So I've got a savage 110 FCP sitting in a McMillan A3-5. Its got an 18" threaded barrel, and a 4 round bling magazine.

The problem is I want a 24" barrel and an option of using 10 round mag.

I'm looking at grabbing a new barrel and restocking mine. While getting some new bottom metal and mags in the process. But from the looks of it, its far cheaper the just swap the whole setup for a fresh start. Anyone care to weigh in? I'm sure I'm not the first to have this problem, and I'm hoping to learn from everyone's collective experience! Thanks in advance for any help or advise given.

I guess it depends on what you what for a stock and barrel. If you just want something to shoot that has a longer barrel and bottom metal that you can get 10 rounders for then get one of the new 12 LRP with the HS Precision stock and detachable mags. You could probably trade or sell your rifle and not be out of pocket too much. There is a small company making 10 rounders for it for around $100 each and you can get the longer barrel, just not threaded. Still the stock isn't on par with most of the nice chassis or a high end McMillan or Manners. If you want a top tier stock and barrel then you're either going to have to buy a custom or build one. Stock or chassis is going to be $750 up and barrels start around $350. If you aren't competent to do it yourself then you will end up paying a gunsmith to put it all together.
I've used Kevin Rayhill with good success.

110 (long action) or 10 (short action)? Centerfeed or staggerfeed? Post some pics!

Jeff @ CDI Precision will inlet your stock for $60 shipped back to you for his excellent DBM. I have two on my Savages and they are great. As for the barrel...spin yours off and sell it to help subsidize a Criterion from Northland Shooters Supply.

If you can find a 24" 10TR, all you would need is a Dark Eagle Customs 10rd magazine and you'd be where you want to be with the possible exception of stock...the 10FCP-SR meets your criteria but is overpriced for what you get IMO.

I want a 24" barrel, or at least a 22". my longer range shots are getting a little squirrely at range. but I really like the mag fed option. I've never been one for stuffing them in through the top. if I was to buy a new stock I'd get a B&C medalist to try out. I don't need to be as cool as the guys that need the big names. Besides I'd like to give it a try. But here yall go!

The other 2 are a Savage MKII .22 and the other's a Mosin in a ATI monte carlo stock with 6.5" of barrel cut off, machined locking lugs and bolt face, smoothed outer receiver and ATI scope mount and turndown bolt conversion. Then I threaded it and installed a brake to lighten things up some.

What longer range are we talking about?

This Savage runs a 20 inch barrel, shoots sub MOA at 100 yards and I can hit clay pigeons with it at 750 shooting 168s. Those shots are rough in any kind of wind because I'm lobbing them, but that has very little to do wth the barrel length.

I'd be lucky to pick up 100 FPS in 4 more inches and I just don't think that's going to be a big game changer.

The B&C is a nice stock, but the McMillan is FAR superior. Hell, I'll buy a brand new B&C and trade you straight up.
As was mentioned already, send you stock to Jeff@CDI, quick turnaround and a damn nice guy.
Several companies make pre-fit savage barrels. Criterion, Pac-nor, shilen, McGowan, Lothar-Walther and ER Shaw come to mind.
It takes 15 minutes, a barrel vise, barrel nut wrench and headspace gauges. A torque wrench is recommended but not required.

What stock is that? I kinda like it. But I will be sending it to CDI for sure now. I have talked to them and was surprised at how cheap it was to do. But I'm currently shooting 168's. But will develop a new load for 1k yards. I know about how easy it is to swap a savage barrel, I just need to buy the tools to do it.

Stock is a JP Enterprises.
