Well I have finally took the 20minuts out of my day to finish up a project that I have been wanting to do for awhile. I do alot of traveling out of state and thankfully I can carry in most of those states thanks to the addition of a Utah Permit. As most with a CHL know it kinda sucks to have your Pistol behind your hip (3-5oclock) when driving, especialy for long distance drives, usually comfort is not a issue but to quickly access your pistol because of a situation might be difficult when buckled in and sitting on the damn thing. I have seen a few over the counter option for in vehicle carry option but I wanted the ability to change platforms ( XD sub / 1911) quickly. I wanted the ability to use two holsters with two different places to mount. Heres what I bought to remedy the situation:

I spent a little more on the holsters since I bought them local but I ordered my connect kit and some other stuff from the site below in the links and they are great people.

BlackHawk CQB holsters - 1911 Gov(I cut this down so I can save space) and XD Sub CQB Serpa
Black Hawk Quick disconnect kit ( comes with two female and one male adapter) QD Kit
Black Hawk male adapter Male Adapter for holster
Badass hat I had to have Flexfit Infidel hat

The male adapter gets bolted onto the holsters, the female adapters get mounted wherever you want to have a pistol handy (car, desk, etc etc.). Also note that these holsters are all righthanded holsters so take into consideration where your going to mount and make sure you wont need a lefthand holster (if they make one?) Also Forbus makes a similar mount kit for there holsters. Alright here we go, picture time (for the people that dont know me, gun is unloaded with empty mag for pictures)

Female adapter bolted on inside a little cubby in my center console insert.

Male Adapter on holster

Holster mounted to Female QD mount

Same as above but with pistol

Heres what it looks like now that I put the center console insert back in the truck:

I hope this post helps anyone that can use such a option for there vehicle/home. Stay safe, this world is going to shit

Also know your state laws when doing something like this.

Very cool. Good job! As far as I'm concerned, carrying in the vehicle is another good reason for tinted windows especially in a car, say nothing of their ability to potentially diffuse roadway conflicts.

I keep looking for a good way to do this in my car and I've yet to come up with a satisfactory solution.

Re: In Vehicle Pistol Mounting Option

me thinks ....some have never torched one off from inside a vehicle....whilst moving....in traffic...w/o ear protection...

i wanna see a lash-up for them that ride suppressed......you know you you are.

Re: In Vehicle Pistol Mounting Option

very cool.. neat idea. ive seen people mount serpas to the driver door. i couldnt do that as i would have to open my console up. and it would be slow in an emergency. i just stuff mine between my driver and middle seat. nice job

Nope never have and hope that I never have to. But if I have to chose between some ears ringing for a few days and my life, I will pick the later.

Although suppressed would be nice for the hearing, I think it would be a little long. But would be a fun experience explaining to a LEO on a traffic stop why your cruising around with a supressed pistol, lol.

Re: In Vehicle Pistol Mounting Option

Cool idea. I bought a Sure Set Holster Mount a few years ago. It's a really solid mount with a lot of adjustment (height, angle, etc.). I was going to put a link but unfortunately they've apparently closed up shop...

Re: In Vehicle Pistol Mounting Option

I just checked out the sureset and it does look nice. I probably would have went that route if they were still available. But I do like how the serpa mounts are really low profile and no one would know if you took the holster off.

You're right there. That is the down side depending on how you mount the Sure Set.

While I can't say I know, I'm sure it's only slighty less severe than touching rounds off in a concrete building. I believe suck would an apt description

Had a stage in a multigun match once where you started with a S&W 66 (w/.38's in it) in an old USPS Jeep. With plugs in it was still loud as hell. Though not as loud as when we used the same Jeep and shot the rifle out of it...

I'm not taking pics. I will tell you, EVERYTHING you need can be purchased at your local West Marine. Think rubber coated magnet. Each vehicle will be different. And be mindful of placement and radio, and on board electronics.

The end result is a damn near invisible setup that will allow you to deploy a suppressed pistol and stow it without looking. Because your eyes should be on the road, instead of watching gun into holster while you drive. Best thing, is this rig is not setup specific.
