Well i really want a 3 lug action to build on and found a good deal on sako 85's in 338 federal which i have no iterest in but has the right bolt face. so i am wondering if anybody knows the max internal coal for the factory sako magazines?

also i was wondering were the position of the ejector is on the bolt. i have heard some of the older sako 75's eject casings strait into the scope because they have a bottom ejector plunger.

thanks for any info or opinions you may have about these.

Diggler, we have a 85SM action in house right now which is the WSM action. The internal mag length is 2.94". The ejector is a positive mechanical ejector at 6:00 and the extractor is a typical spring loaded Sako type at about 2:00.

P.S. On actions like this and many others it's best to use a two turret scope with a symetrical retical like standard crosshairs and just rotate the scope 90 degrees so the elevation turrent becomes the windage turrent on the left side away from the ejection port and the windage turrent becomes the elevation turrent on the top. It's to bad that the traditional scope design works best on left hand actions. Scope makers should make a right hand scope with the windage turrent on the left side for a normal right hand action. This would solve many problems, but the three turrent scope models would still have ejection issues.

or they could just move the ejector to the 9:00 position and solve the problem alltogether.

Yes, but you can't do this with a positive mechanical ejector on a 3-lug action without splitting a lug. The open spots between lugs are at 6:00 or at 10:00 or 2:00 either of which would eject at a somewhat downward angle and would require a much deeper ejection port and thus a action with more of a tendancy to warp during stress releving or machining.
