Rifle Scopes IOR 10x question

I found an IOR 10x56 scope for sale relatively cheap. It doesnt have side focus but does have a small knob on the lower left side. I can't find a pic showing what that is. Is this an older scope?do they have any issues? The seller doesn't know much about it.

I found a few references to the 10x56 IOR scope. It was described as being the most failure prone IOR scope. It is apparently an early design. The later 10x fixed power IORs are supposed to be much better.
Oh well. The idea of an IOR fro less than $500.00 got me all excited.
