Have an large stash of 40gr cci that I just put through the magneto speed. It’s 1190fps avg is it to fast? Even worth a try? Getting really low on my cci sv and looking for options in these lame ass times of trying to find ammo.

If it is accurate at the ranges that you want to shoot at, run with it.
If you are shooting past 100 yrds the bullet at some point has to come out of the sound barrier and will cause the bullet to yaw,and become unstable,so best thing to do is shoot to test like last reply mentioned.

I have been burning up some winchester 1250 and 1650 fps ammo in my vudoo with fair results after a rezero .
Its fine under 100 yards but struggles at 300 yards
Its not as accurate as subsonics but at least im still shooting. I shoot what i can get right now.
Im saving my cci sv and sk stash.
I bought some very cheap ammo one time that said "standard velocity" on the box. It ended up being about 1,200 FPS from a 20" barrel. It shoots pretty good and I had no trouble hitting targets out at 200 yards with it. It seemed to keep consistent group sizes from 50 yards to 100 yards. It was about 2 MOA ammo out of my Rim-X compared to SK+ being about 1 MOA. For the price I was happy with the precision and it did have way less drop at extended ranges. I killed a bunch of prairie dogs with it. For fun plinking or varmint hunting it's great to have ammo like that.
Due to the shape of the bullet, the transition from supersonic to subsonic has minimal effect on the 22lr.
Cartridge defects are the probable cause of trajectory spread with 22lr.
Not my opinion, but that of the Aberdeen ballistics lab.
Expecting visibly damaged bullets to produce predictable trajectories is foolish.
Inspect those cartridges before chambering.
When they're beat to crap, they shoot like crap.
Zoom in on those cartridges.
How many problems can you see?
Do you really think those bullets will follow similar trajectories?
That's typical hi-v 22lr...minimal quality control.

Shot some hot ammo yesterday out to 247 yds. Did better than I expected.
