Is it just me or....

Re: Is it just me or....

I dunno, I guess I dont pay attention very well then. I have just noticed with the Twilight movies making vampires popular within the last two or so years, and Zombieland, I Am Legend, and the newer one, making zombies popular in the last few years, and all of a sudden "Sniper Month" on Military channel and the sniper programs on the History channel now popping up, I thought a trend may have begun to form

Wow, you too? If TV's werent so expensive, I'd probably shoot mine every time that fucker opens his mouth

Re: Is it just me or....

Remember back in the 80's some inventor made what was called the "TV Brick" - it was a foam brick you threw at your TV...

Yeah Criminal minds had one on snipers and they called thesniper the long range serial killer, NOT a sniper - in respect to LE and Military...not sure if the FBI really does that or not.

LOL. It grows every day. An engineer in my office just purchased a complete M24 clone although he does not hunt. He talks of shooting tactical matches but I think that is not sniping, or is it? Only kidding. Of course it is. He was a bugler for the Marine Corps band as a young man. Of course he deserves it. Is it really "tactical?" YES. He owns a bunch of camo material. There are websites now that have over 100 people that do nothing but post about "sniping" and "tacticalness." You have to enjoy it rather than ask the hard questions that he does. He is a sniper, after all.

Indaweeds makes a good observation about these new posers watching TV and voting for the best hollywood movie about snipers. They may have never actually served but their growing count of weekly shows begs questions.

Re: Is it just me or....

There are many people who buy Harleys and travel in groups on public roads but who don't know the first thing about riding a motorcycle, having never learned the craft or taken one anywhere near the edge of its performance envelope. But I'm always happy to see these people, even if it's only to watch them enjoy playing a grown-up version of dress-up in assless chaps and leather costumes. Because it gives us the numbers we need to protect the passtime of riding.

Same with the snipery rifle thing: if people are buying them, and shooting them, getting involved and growing the sport, then the arms become popular. Many of these people buy AR's, despite never having learned the craft or taken one anywhere near the edge of its performance envelope. But they give us the numbers we need to protect the passtime of shooting. Because the Supreme Court said in Heller that if a rifle is popular, then it's protected. 'nuf said.

Re: Is it just me or....

And in Shankster's case, you get assless chaps while shooting, so he's kinda pushing the envelope in all directions

But how many have clever, whaling industry themed avatars?

You fit in wherever you go though, QUEG. It shows through.

It was the irony that I enjoy. Who are these people coming on to the scene acting like others have been acting for some time? When minorities become majorities they are often confused about their road ahead. And in some cases there is retribution, and subterfuge, a French word often involving actors.
