    d. if I take my action out of the stock 30 times do i need to torque it again, why does the poi change.
    e. Bolt Knobs(don't understand the facination) with them
    f. How do I mount a scope with xyz rings, do I need a 5 screw ring to hold the on the rail.
    g. What rail do I need for my xyz remmy 5r special wizbang stick, and where can I get it cheap.
    h. Post an item for sale 10 minute later someone offers you 1/2 of posted price and then states they can get it cheaper at midway.

I am done with this rant for a while but I will be back.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

If we all knew everything there was to know, then there really wouldn't be any point to this place, would there?

I know the same questions get asked quite often, but I'm noit losing any sleep over it.

Perhaps a well thought out FAQ section would be in order.

    Joke em if the can't take a f*ck I say.... </div></div>

In fairness, have you tried the search lately?

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

There are other means to do research than the search function at the top.... There are a few here that have posted the 'google' version of the search as well.

All I ask is that you meet us half way. At least have some direction. Asking a blanket vague question only spawns more questions.

What is the best scope? That is the wrong question to ask.

What is the best scope to buy for 'tactical' shooting scenarios for matches that will usually not exceed 400yds, and will also be used for hunting will prompt responses such as?

You don't need a telescope (uber zoom), so a modest power will suffice. Also, since hunting is also in your question I would offer that a variable power would work best.

    See what I'm gettin' at?

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

I have no issue with the repeated questions, as tucker said that is the point behind the forum to answer questions. If people are going to get their questions answered and then tell the next guy to "look it up" well that is just silly, there is nothing wrong with saying, "I asked the same thing and the answer I got was X"

Just immediately telling people to look it up, is a dis-service to new members.

Also, regarding the search on here... I have no problem finding everything I need. The system was changed and it is working fine, definitely better than when it was SQL based. So the idea the search feature isn't working is simply not true.

I would recommend people answer the question when the question is asked, if they want a better answer then they can look it up. But biting new members is what gives the membership a bad reputation on this site and the internet. The idea, I have my answer go get yours doesn't sit well with me.

The Knave informs the Red Queen that Alice has returned to Underland and threatens her reign, and the Red Knights are ordered to find Alice immediately. Meanwhile, the wandering Alice encounters the Cheshire Cat, who takes her to the Mad Hatter and March Hare. On the way to the White Queen's castle, Hatter relates the terror of the Red Queen's reign, and comments that Alice is not the same as she once was:

Down The Rabbit Hole is Chapter 1:

"Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, `and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice `without pictures or conversation?'"

The same could be said of the 'Hide.

Essentially the same questions will be asked repeatedly.

Those who find that annoying may wish to do what I do. I have files in which I have recorded the answer to many of those questions, so all I have to do is to cut-and-paste the same answer.

Actually, I have only written about 15 posts on this site, which I've posted 800 times each...

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Some times the answers change as time goes by. You can get a different right answer in the 1000 yard section depending on how long ago you asked the question. technology changes, so the answers change.....

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Guys, I don't mind answering a question but the questions at times are so basic that they seem to answer themselves. Just a little research on the part of the questionier who states he looked and couldn't find the answer and it was asked several posts below. Thats my beef maybe it stems from the internet mentality that ask something and it will answered so I don't need to do anything. They will do the work for me.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

    (1) No one makes you answer a question.

    (2) The search function on this site is not very good. So I often post the instruction on searchs seen below, sometimes with the results of a search. There's no point in just carping at people to search.

And, again, this is just cut-and-pasted from a file:

A Google advanced search input screen is shown below. That search turned up more than 3900 links to posts with mil, moa, and hunting in them. Some of them are <span style="font-style: italic">not</span> related to hunting, but many are. This is just a sample search - be creative with your own search terms.

The Google advanced search, restricted to snipershide.com as shown in the input screen, is by far the best way to search this site. Feel free to click on "Date, Usage Rights,..." to further restrict the search.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

I work with computers and the people who use them.
I know a little bit about guns and accessories.

Based on my experiences, the vast majority of people who ask such questions have no clue as to how to use an advanced search function.

On top of that, there's the issue of not knowing what you're talking about to begin with, so what do you type in the search box?

We watched the newest Alice movie last weekend.
It was way better than Wolfman.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Kinda funny when a bunch of newbs complain about newbs asking quequestions that are sometimes a rehash of earlier questions.
It's too easy to answer the question or refer them to a link with the information. As to search functions, well I can see how a newb would get lost trying to figure exactly which words to use to find what they are looking for. That was how I stumbled into here so long ago. Jeez it was like 3,000 members or so back then...

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

The more basic the question, the more important it should be to answer it as it is asked instead of deflecting the question away by telling the poster to go look for themselves.

If they are asking a basic question, chances are they have no clue and should be helped. As Tucker said, they may not know where or what to look for in the first place.

I would recommend everyone taking the time to answer, and if they don't respond to the answers given point them in a direction to seek there own answer. But first and foremost help should be volunteered

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Some of you may notice that I have a rather inflated post count.

If I refused to repeat myself for the benefit of newer members, it would be but a fraction of its current count.

Either that, or I'm a Blaaaabermouth...

    You choose...

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Coincidentally, yesterday on one of the satellite radio shows I frequently listen to, one of the discussed topics was the rise of snobs in just about every hobby. Guys who were into pistols spoke of being looked down on for not having the latest gear at the range. Truck drivers advised of the CB radio snobbery over who had the latest and greatest antenna. A certain amount "elitism" was found in every hobby, especially Internet forums. For some reason penis size and post count become equitable while online. Everyone was the new guy at some point. Those who have been on forums since day one will become tired of the predictable questions being asked routinely. Greg or one of the other members posted something in a thread that was becoming a flame session concerning if you have something to add type away, if not, move on.

That being said... Every forum needs a Boltripper.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Shoot, I never get tired of laying out the steps in John III's scope mounting and centering process as I learned from him and his Dad so many years ago. Sure it is all on video in the scope forum where I direct the individual, but reading it & seeing it give the individual a clearer understanding of what's going on.
As Lindy has so often done, many of us answer the same question over and over ad infinitum for new shooters. I will guess my original posts here were taken teh same way by many people when I first decided I wanted to go LR shooting with a OEM PSS so long ago.
The way I see it, if we all just answetr the questions accurately, don't be dick's, and do what is the 'right thing' we may have less trolls and 'others' come around doing dumb shit

    'Shotgun'* out

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Most of the time when a question gets asked more than a few times 2 things happen.....it almost always gets answered, maybe after some flaming lol, and more importantly....the thread veers off in a way that can show the subject matter in a different light. Same question asked, very different opinions and can ultimately provide another bit of insight to said question. I come on here to read first and foremost, which I learn from, and secondly to shoot the shit and ask a question if I have one. It don't hurt to learn something new, even if the subject matter has been covered many times before. I don't find the posts on this site to be overly redundant at all.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

What do I win if I come up with a question no one else has asked?

And if no one has asked the above question, does it count towards my prize?

    Ooh! How about <span style="font-style: italic">that</span> question?

Man, I'm so excited to see what I get...I hope it's shiny and has nipples!

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

That is why I get bored with shooting. Hard to believe it could happen but it did.

I'm cutting matts now with a sword, just as much precision required, if you like having your leg attached.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

it seems to me that its not the stupid questions but rather the "cool guy" im internet tuff commando types answering these questions and arguing other folks responses that takes away from the usefulness of these threads. recently ive noticed some threads that break down from a legitimate question answer into a "my balls are bigger let me prove it with a lot of bs credentials and false third party opinion" thread.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

This really cracks me up. How easy is it to just freakin ignore the post instead of whining like a bitch about it?
"Oh man, some newb just posted another (rehashed over and over) thread..."
For Fuck's sake you sound like a bunch of whiney bitches sometimes so if you don't want to see it or participate in it fucking ignore it and go look at something else instead of pissing in a guys cheerios and possibley making him not want to consider LR shooting, thus trading a bit more solid support for the hobby for another anti?
I have seen some so called worthless threads, and sandinnavag threads, bu this really does make the top. It is the most severe case that I have ever seen for this:

Says the guy who doesn't respond with answers, only baiting and shit talking.

You see, a lot of guys here have actual experience with a lot of the topics discussed, and it would be a discredit to this site if they didn't correct false information.

That is what makes this site so great. It isn't a bunch of people who only do this stuff on video games, they do it on the two way range.

Sure there will be disagreements, especially when dealing with a bunch of alpha males. But most of those disagreements get solved in the proper way.

If someone post the wrong mil relation formula, I would hope that one of these "internet tough guys" would correct that info.

Seriously, I agree with your post. I find it more annoying when someone that does not know the answer posts some bullshit than I do answering the same questions over and over.

I have no problem, and actually enjoy, helping out less experienced shooters. I tend to respond negatively when said newbie drops an attitude though. Context is more important then content when you are reading a post on a forum...

There are a lot of guys on here that it would pay to listen to. With time and a lot of reading, you will learn to tell which ones are which. Even though join date does not tell the whole story, I often find myself trusting the ones that have been around here for a while. If you truely think this place is full of internet tuff commando types, you perhaps have nothing to learn here...bye.

Re: Is it me or are we going down a Hole

Look at your 'tight' group, then look at a pro's. My first comp with a scoped rifle, I shot pretty darn good. My group was 2" x 5" or a little less. LL's group and a few others were these nice tight 1.5" circles, hence the nickname 'Shotgun'. What I shot was not a group, but a pattern. Shotguns shoot patterns, you know, big circles with random holes in it, maybe like your pistol groups
