This is my first post although I have been a member here for years so here is a brief introduction before my question.
I have been shooting for 40 years. I'm ex 101st as a medic. I primarily shoot ARs and HK USPs. I believe in having only one gun for each job. Currently I have a LMT Defender 2000 MRP Piston AR with a Geissele SD 3 Gun Trigger and a Battle Comp 1.0 and an Eotech 512, a Benelli M1 Super 90 tactical, a HK USP .40 Tactical that has been to Sam at H&K for some love and a semi auto .22 that I have had since I was a kid. As you can see there is a missing gun in my system. I had a HK SR9TC with a Leupold VX3 Police Tactical with Mildot reticle and a Williams set trigger. I sold the SR9 in 2002 and have been out of long range shooting since.
I am planning to buy a bolt action gun this time around and have decided on a Rem 700 SPR Tactical to start with the intention of building it up as I go. In researching this I came across the Hawk Sidewinder 30 Tactical. I read the reviews here and it seems to be a good scope for the money.
Is this my best option for a scope for this rifle for under $600 or is there something else that I should be looking at.
The range I am a member at is 400 meters plus, but there will be times when I will be at 1000 meter ranges. Ohio does not allow rifle hunting so any hunting will be very rare.
Your opinions please and thanks for the info and entertainment over the years.
Chris
