There are billions of NOMINAL Christians, but as Yeshua said, only those who are led by the Holy Spirit are the sons of God. Hell is full of preachers and priests. You probably think the Pope and Kenneth Copeland are good Christians, just like the crowd that had Yeshua killed thought the priests and scribes were good Jews.
Yeshua was NOT popular. He was murdered with the approval of the government as well as the religious leaders of his time, plus the majority of the citizenry. He only had 11 real followers when he was killed. The fact that big crowds followed him for a time clearly does not show that he won over a majority; if he had, those crowds would have been with him at the end. How much more obvious could this be? You can't torture a man to death in a city where he is popular. I can't believe that has to be explained to you.
Regarding brains, you have a Dunning-Kruger problem. You probably have no idea what that is, though. As for me, I did well in university courses, undergraduate and graduate, in which you couldn't manage D's. But I guess you'll tell me "book smart" people aren't as clever as you. You could tell Albert Einstein a few things, I'm sure.
