I can't believe there are people in 2020 still arguing that carrying condition 3 can be "just as quick" or "just as good" as condition 1, but more safe. Bullshit. I'm not going sit here and tell anyone what to do, because despite what others have said here, I still believe carrying condition 3 is better than not carrying at all. But the fact of the matter is that during a bad day, you might only have one good hand when it's time to draw. This isn't just mental masturbation: there is tons of security cam footage out there showing exactly what one of those bad days might look like. I'll link one at the bottom. Your other hand might be injured or otherwise disabled in the attack. You might need your other hand to push the attack off/away to give you room to draw. You might have something in your other hand that prevents you from using it immediately. Maybe in the heat of the moment, you short stroke the slide despite your hours of training. I could go on, but go out there and review the footage yourself. Yes, I'm sure you can find videos of NDs from people carrying in condition 0/1, but it's almost always the fault of the carrier. Simply put, you can always train and control your own actions; you can never predict or control the actions of others.
Chances are you'll never need to use your CCW. Chances are that if you do need to use your CCW, and you're well trained, you'll be able to adequately defend yourself from condition 3. But chances are also that the reason you carry a CCW in the first place is because you know that statistics mean nothing to the individual. That said, only you can decide what you're comfortable with. Some people swear off different kinds of safeties or safeties altogether because they want less obstacles between them and the firearm going bang when they need it. Other people may not carry a mag in their pistol at all.
The only thing that's not up for debate is regardless of what condition you carry your CCW in, if you have an ND from condition 0/1 or lose a gunfight in condition 2-4, and it's caught on video, you'll be Monday-morning-quarterbacked on internet forums until the end of time.
