So, Friday I was looking around at Charter Spectrum, my ISP, and found out they now are offering 200 mbp download speeds at my address, since when? I don't know. But here's the deal, I have been paying $125 a month for 100 mbp speed. I called Charter, nice lady answered, great customer service and I said, "Hey, I've been paying $125 or so a month for 100mbp and I see you now offer 200 mbp." She said, "Oh, well, let me see if we can move you over to 200 mbp." A few seconds later she said, "I just checked your router and I can move you to it with no hardware problems." Few seconds later, "There you go, I rebooted your modem and you should have it now." And she said, "And you now will be charged $65 a month instead of $125." I said, "Is that a one year promotional price?" She said, "No, that's the regular price."
Got home Friday, was not pleased with speeds I was getting, and so I did a complete reset/rebuild of my WiFi Router (an ASUS model) and so as of yesterday and again this morning...sitting upstairs with the router in the basement...this is now happening.
Did Charter let me know about any of this? Of course not, glad I stumbled into it. Moral of the story: routinely check on all your providers to see what's up and to get lower prices/faster service, etc.!
