I have had significant differences with Netanyahu over the years. I would note, that in general I hold all politicians in contempt and NEVER view any of those self-serving fucks as heroes nor do have any personal loyalty to them as their only loyalty is to themselves and keeping their nose in the public trough.
It has been my long held view that you cannot simply make 6M Arabs, living in what is commonly viewed as "Palestine", disappear.
But, they have been offered land for peace before and their elected leader (in the most notable case, Arafat) rejected the offer.
Instead, the Arabs living in Gaza elected Hamas, who IMO is clearly a terrorist group, as their government. It doesn't matter to me that once in power the assholes running Hamas basically did away with any fair elections that would undermine their power. The civilian populace put them in place, and as in any war, the civilian population suffers death, injury, and impoverishment.
I would offer Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan as comparable situations. Once in power, the Nazi did not hold any thing like elections and perhaps a majority of them no longer supported the National Socialist German Workers' Party. Didn't matter did it....we still bombed the shit out of Germany population centers and civilian factories, including the fire bombing of Dresden and the annihilation of the civilian population that lived there. Similar to Japan where we intentionally fire bombed Tokyo which killed more people than both nuc bombs combined....mostly civilian populations.
War sucks and civilians almost always pay the price.
I would add that if a foreign terrorist organization killed our civilians in an attack like Oct 7th, we wouldn't rest until we killed every fucking one of them we could find and fuck the collateral damage.
Now, one thing I agree with Netanyahu on is that Hamas needs to be destroyed...totally eliminated. For year after year Israel (and yes, Jews) tolerated almost constant attacks from these Hamas assholes. In the year long period before the Oct 7th attack, Hamas launched over 2,000 rockets toward Israel civilian population centers....and did so from schools, hospitals, and other civilian areas using them as shields. A cowardly tactic that I have a hard time believing did not have civilian cooperation. An example would be the medical staff of a Gaza hospital decrying Israeli attacks on it....then WTF was discovered in its basement. Yeah....
And if just 1% of that number of rocket attacks were sent against US civilian population centers we would rest until we level the motherfuckers and, again, collateral damage be damned.
The time of tolerance of Hamas is over. Period. Hamas has to be destroyed and Israel is going to do it. And I support that.
Perhaps you have forgotten how much Israel and the USA actually secretly funded and advanced Hamas, specifically to undermine the PA because the PA was more likely to accept some form of an actual 2 state solution with 2 actual countries and Israel was not actually going to have any of that, so they secretly supported Hamas and funded them (with our Tax dollars of course).
It's not like the Hamas guys and the Israeli guys weren't like hanging out at the same arab hotels quite often...
I always like to ask folks with your kind of logic to see if they are happy if someone did the same to them and their families because our government did bad things all around the world to everyone...
