Ok I did do a search and did not find a lot of information on the question I have.

At one point i owned an Ithaca .243 it was stock but man it shot well. i was thinking about buying one and doing a Build off of it. in .243 A new stock barrel trigger all the goodies.

my question is is it worth doing or should I just get a new action?

I want a good accurate rifle but something slightly different from the normal Remington / savage so when people ask.. what are you shooting? I can respond with something that would make them raise an eye brow.

Re: Ithica

Howdy! If your Ithica is what I believe it to be, it's is actually a Tikka. If it's short action it would be a M55 action and M65 in long action. If you can post or PM me a picture I can maybe help. It would likely be more expensive than you expect to build it up. There are really no parts available for these. That being said I have tons of Tikka rifles and I love them, you definitely will be unique.

Tikkakoski Finland LSA-55 Action

I have a tikka t3 tactical. I looked up the rifle and found the action is actually a tikka. The only clear makrkings on it are on the barrel marked Ithica and on the receiver marked lsa-55 but nothing about tikka. Is your opinion that its not worth the effort?

Re: Ithica

No! I think it would be awesome! I have a M55 Super Sporter in .308 that is awesome. Rebarreling would be no different than any other, scope rails are available. I think McMillan inlets for it. Look in the Vintage Sniper section here and find the thread "Vintage Tikka Rifles" there is some good pics. These are pictures of the one I have.
