People like you are part of the problem.

Sounds like you would be ok with being pulled over while driving so they can check to see if you have a license.

Maybe they should be able to check your safe to see if you have any illegal guns or too much ammo?

You probably support stop and frisk also

I understand the thought but I also see less dove every year. So given the choice of my grandson(assuming I have one I’m not that old yet) not being able to go dove hunting because they are all gone I support game laws and also understand that those laws have to be enforced or like any law it’s useless. I wish I could just trust that everyone would respect game limits and hunting seasons but that is not the case.

That’s caused by reduction of habitat. (Doves)

So buy some ground and plant habitat/cover/food on it.

Curious how you feel about game laws and seasons when the state uses illegal firearms and times to cull animals on taxpayer owned properties/parks.
And insurance company lobbyist are who has the most pull in Re to expanding seasons/limits

We live in a flawed world. It will never be perfect. Reason and common sense are in short supply at times.

98% of my LEO interactions have been polite and reasonable.
2% have been a nightmare that I never imagined being subjected to, and for no reason at all.

It doesn’t matter if you are 100% innocent of any wrongdoing or not.
The system is flawed because humans are involved.
They all have moods, emotions, and biases they act on because they are humans.
The most you can hope for is other LEOs not being in the same mood at the same time.
And if that happens? You need a good attorney and a reasonable judge.
All that said - it’s still the best system we have, and we all have to work with it.

Yes habitat is obviously part of it but it defies common sense to think if there weren’t game lawslimits that he population of certain animals wouldn’t be decimated. Not sure which species your speaking of concerning illegal firearms but I’m guessing your speaking of hogs. If so it’s a perfect example of what I’m saying, hogs are plentiful and need to be reduced so here you can hunt as many a you wish, using any firearm you wish. We’ve had years when deer over populate and limits were temporarily eliminated. It’s not a perfect system but there never will be one because we are imperfect. No I don’t support or tolerate stop and frisk, the patriot act, pulling shadow court warrants because there are other means at our disposal. Unfortunately the only way to suspect someone is violating game laws is to be on the land where the harvesting occurs, short of using drones that is the only way, so while it may be a little bit of hypocrisy I deal with it.

You see less dove every year???? They raised the limit to 15 here and surprised it isn’t higher.

The Eurasians have been taking over and populating rapidly and are unlimited kills, no season and bigger. They are invasive species.

i prefer to shoot the eurasians but they like the city and edges of town much more than countryside so your bag will only have a couple compared to white wings or mourning.

Since they are migratory maybe more mourning dove have come to lower states or just different states at this point in time and that changes and some day i’ll have less birds.

LOL

Link that case. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t exist.

In some states they do have some authority others don’t (similar to Border Patrol inside 25mi of border). But just as Border Patrol is constrained by the 4th amendment, so are Game Wardens.

The only areas which are not subject to the 4th amendment are Ports of Entry.
All about the ao too. Even if the current wording of the law makes game wardens feel like they can violate the constitution they may try and exercise with the in town guy that has the new truck and suit n tie job but they aren’t gonna have the same approach when they are flying in to a remote village. With great power comes great responsibility. Funny I’m bear country when I’m not in town.. I’m beginning to think it’s not the bear they fear but the people that prefer to encounter bear over people.

God gave the plants and animals to me not gov.

I have a right and God given obligation to feed my family. It’s my choice if I want to feed them tilapia from China via wal mart or if I go grab some salmon from the creek on my property.
If you can’t see how the constitution covers down on those rights even though it never specifically says I have the right to harvest salmon from the creek on my property or nearby ocean then your part of the problem. You know what I want to ensure my kids have... full bellies now and freedom in their lifetime. I’ve taken a oath.

Up here I can get in more trouble for taking a moose out of season than I can for killing a person. That’s not right.
I never want to be found in such a compromised situation.. the flip side of that coin is all gov, Leo’s, game wardens, feds, must make decisions to either agree with or oppose their orders. Those decisions need to be weighed carefully.

If a few years ago every unconstitutional red flag grab was met with antifa level protest do you think we would be at this stage of the game right now?

Edit I’m not ok with poaching. I’m also not ok with being called a poacher if I choose to harvest food or fur for a genuine need.

Not about game wardens, but..

Hester vs US
Katz vs US
Oliver vs US

Kinda disputes your last sentence.

There are like 5 states whose constitutions make the decisions in those three cases moot.

And, yes, wildlife officers historically have abused the 4th amendment. Then lose the case when we the defendant have a jury of the people on 1st appeal.

Interesting to note a state or two have created a G/F Swat team.... have to look at that with a jaundiced eye.

Climates change and do do migratory patterns, and the limit here normally stays around 15. I used to be able to shoot my limit in north Texas fairly easily 15 years ago now not so much. Next year I am planning on moving farther towards San Antonio for a few hunts, the times I have hunted in that area the birds have been plentiful.

I’ve never had an issue with someone who hunts because they need to put food on the table, but like everything else the issue isn’t black and white. The problem I have is those who go into the woods without respect, shoot at everything that moves, wounds 3 doesn’t track them down or just shoots something to kill it just to let it lay. Yes God did give us dominion over the animals but that is also a responsibility not to eliminate them from the earth. It took 1 generation to almost eliminate the bison completely, and estimated 100 million population reduced to thousands, 100 years later they have only recovered to a population of 200 thousand even being protected. All I am for is common sense game regulations, which the examples you gave are obviously not. You know if someone agrees with 90% of what you think they are pretty much on your side, if the standard is 100% it’s a pretty lonely club.

That’s why my first post says shoot trespassers. I just state my rights as I prepare to fight for them. I’ve never taken a bison so that’s not my concern. I’m far more endangered than any moose. I’m the LAST one like me. Shouldn’t I get that special treatment?

Oh and here we have laws about wasting game. And that part of the law is based on common sense.. I.e. food or fur. They don’t make you eat yote but better not leave a bunch of meat on a moose.

When I see common sense in how constitutional laws are applied equally there is law and order. When I have judges tell me I cannot be armed even though I live in a 2a sanctuary area and have committed no crime then I tend to get a itchy trigger finger.

You should change your avatar. It doesn’t match your thought process

Lol. Not that the anti hunting commies introducing and protecting big predators (cats/bears/wolves) has anything to do with that

Like I said if some agrees with 90% of what you think and that makes them the enemy then it’s self assured destruction, socialists have their purity tests interesting you do as well.

I was just adding the additional info about the bisons

Everyone needs to be aware of what the anti hunters are doing out west

Bud, your not my enemy. I’ll take 90% and will stand beside you when the time comes. I have a feeling there’s a lot of felons that will soon have a lot of friends that just 4 years ago would not associate with.

I understand, it’s just since we seem to agree on every important issue it seems silly to get sideways on a topic of game management, especially since we both hunt anyway.

All’s good, besides I’m a biker half my friend are already felons, but there are felons then unforgivable felons there’s a difference lol

I don’t hold others to my standards therefore I don’t think your purity test is a fair assumption of my stated beliefs.

We are cut from the same cloth. I too strive to be a good steward of what God has given me. The common denominator to this is gov. You cannot give one group rights without taking rights from another.
Simple things fall apart with gov intervention.

If you look historically, there were massive flocks of carrier pigeons in North America just a few hundred years ago. Perhaps the Eurasian can refill that niche. The most invasive species survive.

We have loads of them here too. They are tough as nails. I have never seen so many birds fly away after taking major hits. I have buddy who lives not too far from some corn storage with lots of big trees and a feed lot on the back their property. We used to hammer them out there. After a couple years we stated getting them with big scars where shot had went through them and they flew away. I don't know how many I have seen crumple, just to re-catch flight half way to ground and fly away. I swear if those fuckers weighed 30 pounds they would eat pit bulls. Look out @Bender . Sorry for the sad story about the carrier pigeons. :ROFLMAO:

Yup. If they can stop you on public land to chuck your duck permit they can pull you over on the public road to check your car permit

So you don’t want wardens to be able to check hunting license at all? Unless there is probable-cause of a crime being committed? Do I have that right or did I miss something?

Btw our Wardens here in Wyoming are some of the nicest folks. My back was in full flare-up one season and there was this real ball buster fence gate. It was bad enough with a good back. I mentioned it to the warden for that area. The next time I went up to hunt, a cheater-bar had been installed.

I hunt by the book and have a great relationship with them. Some of the best hunting intel I get is from them. If I am hunting a new area I call them up. I have had them spend 45 mins or more on the phone with me giving me info.

Conversely when I lived in Maine, when we saw wardens we just went in the other direction......

I have personally never been "pulled over" and checked. They have followed me until I stopped then talked to me and asked to check it, and to make sure there was a not a round in the chamber of my rifle. But there was only one two track where we were going. So were they following or just cruising. They gave me some tips on where some Elk had been hanging, and we small talked a little. He said, damn thats a nice rifle, i kind of giggled because its just Remge in a manners. He probably sees some crazy junk out here. Thats a pretty normal interaction for me. They usually don't even ask to check my license when I am thinning prairie dogs on public land. They probably joke about seeing that white subaru all over the country.

They are more like, this town runs all the way up over there,

and I am like yeah, see the buzzards circling over there.

We the people need to start checking politicians licenses. If some of them ain’t expired yet needs to be revoked.

ITs an interesting thing to think about. A Police officer can't ask for your drivers license just because he saw you driving a car. I guess he can ask, but you don't have to give it. I guess you probably don't have to show your license to the game warden either. Unless you have a dead animal on you.

If your wearing dead animals I don’t think you will have to worry about being asked as much

Here in Wyoming, you can have a round in the chamber.

In Maine after shooting a big game animal you have to take it to the nearest inspection station. Might be a store or a gas station. They hang it up weigh it and log details, then you can take it home.

Here in Wyoming you just head home or to your meat processor.

The problem with small victories like that is it takes away precious momentum and people fall into a more lax state of false cooperation instead of a all or nothing fed up past my breaking point come and take it mentality.

Small victories?? It’s tangible. What are these “politicians licenses” you want to check?

In Tenn we have wildlife management areas that are open to hunting. If you are hunting on those state properties then yes they can check your license.
The state requires a fee to hunt it's property.
ITs either both or neither. If they can check your license because you are hunting, then they can check it anywhere.
Yup. If they can stop you on public land to chuck your duck permit they can pull you over on the public road to check your car permit
Your vehicle has a tag/license on it for them to check with out pulling you over.

I was actually thinking about terrorist hunting permits. I’m all for peaceful resolution, I just don’t see any yield and am not giving another inch.

In Kansas you could shoot prairie dogs and coyotes from the road with no license as long as you were a resident.

Here in Wyoming coyotes, jack rabbits etc are classified as predators. You can shoot them anytime, from your vehicle off road, without a license, resident or not. Night hunting is only allowed on private property with written permission.
