i've been hanging around here long enough without posting. i have a 6.5 grendel 24" overwatch and was wondering what you all think about the future of the round. I dont reload so im not sure why I even got into this caliber. When I find ammo its a blast to shoot, but it's almost impossible to find it. Do you think I would be better off finding a bolt .308 and building it up? For how much i have into this AR, im seriously thinking about it. Here is a picture of it...

Man, thats rough, i'd get into reloading snd keep the grendel

, if thats not an option sell the AR and buy a bolt gun in 308, or 223 witha faster twist, or for that matter just sell the upper and get another one in 223 with a 1-8" twist so you can shoot the heavies.

whats this rifles main purpose?

Re: i've been lurking long enough... 6.5 grendel?

Can't you keep the Grendel an also get/build up the .308 bolt? They are quite different animals in a lot of ways. I've got a 16" Grendel and reload for it. I also have a spare set of Grendel dies by the way. Your frustration with the caliber is tied to the ammunition unavailability/pricing and reloading for it should cure that swiftly. Myself, I've had on order an AA 24" GDMR since October of last year. I ordered that gun to have a semi-auto that is ballistically superior to .308 at long distance. Meanwhile, I still wait. A few months ago I ran into a 700PSS .308 on a good trade and shoot that at 800-1000 yards when not into running the TRG42 in 338LM. Couldn't be happier, still, can't wait to get the other Grendel.

i wish i could keep the grendel AND buy the 308, however I dont have quite the change for the both of them. Right now im talking to someone about trading my 16 inch 5.56 upper and lower, but i only have the one lower for both uppers, so the grendel may sit bottomless until prices come down for it.

I just got a Grendel Upper from Midway USA (via Alex Arms--who said they were sold out for many months)
I was in a wait list and email notification came thru last week and it is here.

Keep the Grendel and get a 308, but learn to load...it is fun and not so difficult.
