I'd like to give a big shout out and thank you to Frank and snipershide.com with their support of Ivory Protection Group. A friend and I recently founded this NPO in an attempt to stop the illegal poaching of ivory bearing animals in South Africa before these animals become extinct. We will be working with the South African government and other NGO's with the same goal. We are currently seeking corporate sponsorships and strategic partnerships for our initiatives as well as taking personal donations. We are a 131F-3(3) state registered non profit based out of North Carolina, our 501(c)3 has been submitted and is pending, just waiting for everything to be accepted and approved. We maintain a minimum of 85% of every dollar going directly to anti poaching efforts. Please check out our website at IVORY Protection and show your support as well. We have a contact option on the site for any questions you may have, you can also post any questions here or pm me.
Thank you again Frank and Sniper's Hide!

The very best of luck in this venture. It's important work and deserves support.

Frank actually appears to have donated $500 to this group. Which I think is very generous.

Elephant protectors in Kenya arrested with ivory

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Authorities say that two employees of an elephant conservation group in one of Kenya's most popular wildlife parks have been charged with ivory smuggling.

The Amboseli Trust for Elephants confirmed the charges in a statement Monday. The group said it is confident that an investigation will exonerate the two, a mother and a son.

A spokesman for the Kenya Wildlife Service, Paul Udoto, confirmed the arrests and Monday's court arraignment but said he could not share further details. Court records showed that the two Kenyans were arrested with six tusks.

Kenya's Amboseli National Park sits in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Amboseli Trust for Elephants is a not-for-profit trust registered in Kenya and the United States.

Demand for ivory in Asia is fueling poaching deaths of Africa's elephants.

We are very sorry to report that ATE is facing some of our most challenging times ever. Our Deputy Director Soila Sayialel and Technical Support Assistant Robert Sayialel were arrested and charged with ivory smuggling. We have no belief in these allegations and we are confident an investigation will exonerate them of all charges. We will not comment further on the facts of the case until we have had chance to consult with our lawyers, but we ask everyone to remember that we have fought for and dedicated our lives to elephants for decades. We do not intend to stop now.

This is fairly common actually and there's a very small list of groups operating over there. Hopefully these guys get fried and the group gets a serious re-evaluation.China has taken a step back to evaluate their position, thanks largely in part to Yao Ming. Vietnam is still #1 on the list for illegal ivory.
