With the recent post about fluting, would a .750 profile barrel with a jp thermal dissipator resist heat related poi change better than a thicker profile barrel?
Of course no has really tested this so just looking for opinions.

What are you doing with the rifle?? Why is the subject important to you?

It's important to me because I was thinking about this topic and I ran across the fluting thread. Great timing I think.

2nd, I am starting to consider parts for a new build. I already have a 16" .308 cal rifle.
Upper/lower would be a megalithic, RCA bolt and trying to decide what 20" barrel I want to use.
Was thinking about a Lilja barrel with the JP thermal dissipator or another brand, no dissipater but a different profile (heavier under the hand guard).

Rifle use, general target, maybe whitetail and general SHTF tool.

Ask JP for empirical data on the device. They should also have digital media files on hand
to back up their data.

I remember an article written on the subject by an author that took

thermal measurements and he came to the conclusion that the thermal xfer

from the barrel to the "fins" was abysmal and therefore the device was useless.

I personally wanted to read that it worked like a charm after reading on carbon fiber wrapped barrels
having bonding problems.

Me? I still hump heavy donkey dangler 24" pieces of pipe for my precision ARs. Hell,

I'm getting ready to go 26" very soon and it won't have a da-da-damn piece of JD on it.

EDIT: I like/love the standard JD products, just don't need/want them at this time.
