Getting ready to work up some OCW loads for my new 7-08 barrel with the 162 Amax.

When using the LNL bullet comparator with the OAL gauge, I'm getting some pretty inconsistent measurements, as compared to other bullets like the SMK.

I'm attributing it to the VLD shape of the ogive (?). With the 150 SMK I had been shooting from the old barrel, variance was never more than .01.

With the Amax (and using different bullets each time), I'm getting variances up to .04 to the lands.

I normally shoot for a jump of .02...

Should I just take the shortest of the measurement so as not to risk heavy contact with the rifling?

Anyone with experience with this bullet, and sensitivity to junp?
