Long, long ago, in Chicago there was a group called "24 Ghosts" they took out the trash everywhere within 60 miles of city hall. Tools of the trade were canned 22lr's for leadership or wire an sticks for a more direct message to street thugs. Sounds like they need to be resurrected for if the leadership, or law can not control their tasked dirt, there are those who can, an will.

They started taking out the trash in the mid 60's and as far as I know by the early 70's their work was done.
The bulk of those who lived around Chicago back then (including LE) never knew it was happening until early 72-73 when a local reporter for the Chicago SunTimes started putting things together. The folks who just disappeared or found in the river, were wrote off as gang/MOB related. Many of the gang leadership that got whacked while giving marching orders, were wrote off as being targeted by other gangs/MOD over turf. Once the reporter started seeing some autopsy's of bullet entrance but no exit, he started questioning how could that be, where is the bullet. This led many to believe it was CPD doing the work. The reporter stumbled on the answer at local fair, shooting gallery. Gallery ammo disintegrates on contact, thus no bullet left to trace back.( No longer made for that very reason) Wire an sticks were used up close a personal on many to instill local fear as to indicate no one was immune from being touched anywhere, anytime. Lots of rumors as to who was doing it but no one was ever caught, charged. Some say it was just 2-4 guys some say it was 24 different people, via MO. I believe it was just 2-4 guys who had the ability, knew the A/O, seen what it had become or knew someone that had been injured/hurt by that trash an started doing what Hollywood made money on in later years. Some say it was what started the death wish movies. Other said 2-3 within CPD knew those involved an protected them. One rumor was a CPD higher up family member was a crime victim an the perp walked do to a technicality. He then recruited some guys he ran with before, an assisted them with Intel.
I tend to believe it was a very small group (2-4) who had worked together an had the ability to keep their mounts shut. WLS (radio station) back in the day was a Rock radio station an I can still recall them saying "Chicago", a city were dirt goes missing yet is not missed at all.
Shortly there after another scumbag would turn up, some say one of the group was known to the WLS DJ but it could never be proved as fact.

Link to the ammo many thought was used. I remember that ammo quickly dried up, an the price was 50 bucks a box in the mid 70's while std 22 ammo was still only 75 cents per 50. Last box of 250 gallery I bought was 4 bucks if memory serves. Looks like I should have bought a truck load based on his price!

Man, am I happy that I escaped that place and took my woman with me. Her laboratory was at the 35th St (Sox Park) Red Line stop. There were several days before we left that she had to close her office and send the employees home because of "unrest" in the area and cops chasing people through her parking lot.
