I was a BRM instructor for 15 years. I taught the M-16, M-60, and the SAW. None of these weapons have scopes. I know nothing about them at all. I have a scope on my 30.06 at home but never really thought about how it worked. I looked at FAQ's above but didn't see this question. (probably because it's so stupid everyone knows the answer but me)but on a lets say 10X scope. Does that means the image appears to 10X closer than it actually is? So at 100yds the target would appear to be at 10yds? at 1000yds the target would appear to be at 100yds?
I ask this question because I'm thinking about buying a scope. I use to shoot out to 300 yds with the m-16 open sights all day long. So if a 10x would make a 1000yd target look like it was 100yds away then I think that would be all I would need.
Ya'll see where I'm going with this?..........feel free to call me a dumb ass but after the flaming could you try your best to answer my question. Thanks.
