I'm posting a little prematurely but I'm just so excited about my new acquisition that I couldn't wait! On Thursday I'll be picking up my new Baby! It's a Colt Model 1905. I purchased it from an estate up North and a local Dealer received it for me. I've been to see it but have to wait 3 days to pick it up. I believe it was made relatively early as the serial number is 17XX. I've combed as many sites as I could and have yet to see a 1905 that's as nice as mine. I'd have to say it's between 98% and 99%! The finish is absolutely original and nearly flawless! It doesn't appear to have ever even been disassembled! I'll post detailed pictures as soon as I get it home but here's a picture from the original owner that was sent to me before I bought it.

The Model 1905 is the very first Model of Colt Semi-Auto Pistol that fired the 45 ACP round. There were around 6200 made!

Re: Just wanted to share...

That is quite a nice pick-up you made on the 1905!!! I have held one, but never had the privilege of ownership. It is truly an excellent piece for any collection...particularly a 1911-lover's/Colt-lover's collection!!

I look forward to more pics!!

Also, if you don't mind me asking or divulging the info...what did you give for it? (and please don't say a left testicle)!!

Re: Just wanted to share...

Yes, definitely a collector piece. Not to be shot... But mostly because they have a tendancy to break with modern ammo. As far as how much I paid, I was given a deal on it as payment for appraising a large gun collection so it's hard to put a number on it. I did pay for it but it was half of the appraisal value.
Clear as mud... Right?

Re: Just wanted to share...

Here are the new pics. They're not the best. It was late last night when I took them. What a Pristine example of a 103 year old pistol! Notice the blueing in the slide rails is still ALL there!!!

Re: Just wanted to share...

Actually, I got a great deal on it. It was part of a large collection I appraised and I was allowed to buy it for much less than I appraised it for before the whole collection went to auction. There are some Great pieces in that collection!

Re: Just wanted to share...

OP,

That is pretty cool. I've seen exactly one of those, it was at Collector's Firearms in Houston, and the finish wasn't near the quality of yours. Congratulations on the find!

Re: Just wanted to share...

You want to trade for a good Glock? My mistake!! Is there such a thing as a good Glock. OLD SCHOOL COLTS RULE!!!!! and the newer ones aren't bad either.Come to think of it I have never meet a COLT45 I didn't like. Old Colts are like old dogs ,even if you don't own one you wish you could !!!
