Justification for rise in gas prices? AKA cover for bad policy...?

Good read - thanks! Not surprising though.

For all its faults SoCal did clean up air pollution back in the 60s, 70s and 80s but I'm not sure what the current results of cap & trade are on actual cleaner air. It was brutal when I was a kid - it literally hurt to breathe at times and mostly couldnt see the 10,000+ foot mountain range less than 10 miles away in the summer months.

When we moved to SLC we were really taken back by the horrible air quality - the inversions in the winter are pretty bad. I'm not a fan of much regulation at all but I wish Utah would take a few small steps to clean the place up being all pro-family and pro-kids and all that.
The whole country's air cleaned up from the 70s, not just Cali.

As for Utah, they've already gone level stupid since I lived there growing up, but it's the Wasatch Front that controls it, not the emissions. Robert Redford racing around Orem and Provo in his black H1 Hummer screaming about Geneva Steel being oh so bad, got it shut down after they invested many millions into the highest level scrubbers on the market at the time.

But hey, want Utah air cleaner? Stop driving, stop heating your home, lead by example. Take the bicycle to the capitol and lobby to close the airport and kick Delta out of the state. Have them turn 15/215 into a green space. Get rid of the NSA's energy gobbling data center, as well as Google all the rest of big fucked up tech that ruins good places like locusts.

Or, just move back to California and stop trying to Californicate Utah.

Our dumbass in DC doesn't seem to realise that nearly everything we touch in our lives is dependent on petroleum in materials or fuel to produce. Probably the shoes you are wearing right now required petroleum based materials in everything right down to the soles. So get ready for everything to go up. Anybody ever heard of plastic? OK, my rant is over..

Don't know if it was just a panic run on stations here in S. AL, but all the stations are out of gas...

Apparently this is really happening:

But don't worry - some people on the Hide just think the pipeline hack is cover for creeping gas prices. It's probably somehow related to Hunter Biden's laptop; we just need to wait for Rudy Giuliani to confirm.

Full tinfoil jacket mode.............. whos kiddie porn are they ransoming? If i understand things right hack did not shut down the pipeline .It was done by Colonial as a precautionary measure. One major spill they managed to keep under the radar was enough.....

''The hackers who caused Colonial Pipeline to shut down the biggest U.S. gasoline pipeline on Friday began their blitz against the company a day earlier, stealing a large amount of data before locking computers with ransomware and demanding payment, according to people familiar with the matter.

The intruders, who are part of a cybercrime gang called DarkSide, took nearly 100 gigabytes of data out of the Alpharetta, Georgia-based company’s network in just two hours on Thursday, two people involved in Colonial’s investigation said.

The move was part of a double-extortion scheme that is one of the group’s hallmarks. Colonial was threatened that the stolen data would be leaked to the internet while the information that was encrypted by the hackers on computers inside the network would remain locked unless it paid a ransom, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information isn’t public.''
The company didn't immediately respond to requests to comment on the investigation. It said earlier that it "proactively took certain systems offline to contain the threat, which has temporarily halted all pipeline operations, and affected some of our IT systems".

Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Feebs are blaming an Eastern Euro (possibly Russian) based crime ring known as Darkside for the hack.
I'm sure this is true cause, ya know, it's the FBI....riiiiight.

I think this time they are actually Russians but , a criminal gang doesn't equal state actor . At least thist time FBI,CIA,NSA are not claiming that which was the standard claim for past 4+years no evidence needed. No one claims Nigerian gov is sending you the Nigerian prince letters altough in Nigeria's case i wouldn't be so sure :ROFLMAO:

Worse still ,the Russians (clickbait-for-profit outfits blamed for election interference) that actually came to defend in court utterly wrecked the prosecution's case..... https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/16/us/politics/concord-case-russian-interference.html

Again, missing the point entirely. We don’t really think it’s just cover...but in chaos their is lots of opportunity. And there is a shit ton of stuff going on that you ain’t gonna hear about on CNN. They too busy still being obsessed with Trump.

Well, there is a humanitarian crisis, a border crisis, Russia thumbing their noses at us, we getting prodded by Iran, ISIS is back, I can go on and on, but hey Biden going to fix everything with his $6 trillion more in spending, which by the way very little goes to actually fixing anything. Again, opportunity in chaos. But I am glad to see some governors at least growing a pair and taking away some of the free fucking money that Biden claims has nothing to do with unemployment, supply chain issues and so on. I I really don’t see how they keep getting away with the same old song and dances. I guess americans really are stupid.

Industrial PLCs are commonly used to traffic kiddie porn on the dark web. I figured this was widely known among the red-pilled members of this forum. Shit, it's what got Epstein knocked off in prison - he was going to blow the lid right off this thing and show how it goes right to the top of Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Allen Bradley. It was going to be biblical.

If one wanted to take this matter seriously, figuring out who Darkside refers to as its "client" would be a good first step instead of spinning various conspiracy theories.

If it was bad, they'd have paid it.

100 gigs of data is nothing, especially on a large corporate network that's full of trash. 100 gigs directly pulled from a DB of customer info, that'd be worth something. But we're talking about an oil pipeline -- their customer list isn't individuals, it's governments and other businesses -- so if that data leaks, nobody involved cares.

Basically, they hacked someone who doesn't give two flips if you leak their data. They have zero competition and the government supports them -- that's ooooooold money.

No, the pipeline shutting down was strategic. It was an f-you to the hackers. They're probably scared as S. If you're in the US, you know if they find you there will be life in prison. If not inside the US, you know the US kills for oil -- and they will have you killed wherever you are, even if you are in Russia, and probably by your own government.

You don't think terrorists could have hit these pipelines or other oil related assets in the US yet? Think they don't know where these are or how unprotected they are?

They know, but they also know what happens if you mess with US oil. You could attack a childrens cancer treatment center and have less response from the US than if you hit an oil pipeline. All the old school contractors are licking their chops as they watch the news, they've probably already started recruiting efforts for all the line positions they're going to need to fill in their factories to manufacture the bombs Biden will send to some random place they'll blame for this. (Probably Syria, they REALLY want that Qatar pipeline -- they've already been leaking that this 'group' is really Russian sanctioned hacking)

Business as usual for America all over again.

Just called my " gas man "...... He out ......said panic buying yesterday put him on empty. Supposed to get a truck load this afternoon.......said he'd call me when / if it got there so I could come top off.

Plenty of all petroleum products here in the Buckeye state as of yesterday afternoon.

Filled up with 88 octane (15% ethanol) for less than $2.50/gal.

Or, just move back to California and stop trying to Californicate Utah.
Ha! Too late...

In reality Utah already has its own problems. I thought California held little regard for our constitution in regards to the 2nd amendment but Utah holds even less regard for the constitution given its lack of respect for the establishment clause. Don't get me started on the nanny state BS with alcohol.

Just got done in WA state with the insane gas prices. 3.29-3.99 randomly. CO is roughly 2.69-2.99 most places for normal 87 octane. Diesel is about the same or slightly more. Luckily I have a company truck with company fuel card and drive that the majority of the time but it always sucks to fill up to old F250 with the 7-10mpg 460BBF in it

Gas is up to $2.80/gal for 87 in E TN, due to the Colonial issue, a lot of stations were out of 87 and mid grade, only premium and didn't look at the price. Most stations had customers at all the pumps as I passed by. News says things "should" be back to "normal" by this weekend, but we all know how that goes. LOL

In the UK we are currently paying $7.90 a gallon, so they list the price in litres to make it more palatable - £1.28 a litre.

That's why we all drive cars with engines of 2 litres or less!

Govt takes about 50% in tax. On the plus side we can still buy ammo and primers, we just can't afford to drive and collect them!
