If anyone is in need of a quality gunsmith in Michigan, I would highly recommend Kampfeld Custom in Clinton. I recently decided on having my bolt fluted and he was the first to pop up on my Google search. I was excited to see he was only a couple hours away and decided that a face to face was in order.

Turnaround time for my bolt was 20 min. He did a great job and is a really nice guy. I decided to have him flute my barrel and re-Cerakote my rifle as well. Could not be happier with his work. Check him out if you get a chance.

Re: Kampfeld Custom

To give you another example of his customer service, when I took the bolt to him for fluting, I was worried about it banging around in my truck console, so I set it in my lap like some kind of infant. After a two hour drive, I stopped to get gas, and yes...I forgot it was in my lap. I stepped out and "clankty, clank" it goes on the pavement.

Now I'm pissed at myself beyond words, as I have a large gouge in my bolt handle. When I got to Karl's, I told him the story and asked him to put a new bolt handle on. He could have easily have said OK and charged me for a new bolt handle, but rather said that he might be able to polish it out. I kind of doubted him at first, thinking there was to much damage. He worked on it awhile, and it looked new. He didn't even charge me for the repair.

Re: Kampfeld Custom

I sent in an SPS tactical for a side stop bolt release and to have the base screws enlarged to 8-40. Karl accidentally scratched my receiver in the process and called me up, offering a free ceracoat job. I didn't feel right having him work for free,so we agreed on a reduced amount. Now my SPS looks as good as it shoots.
