Rifle Scopes Keep or sell & replace: Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 BDC?

Picked up a Remington 700 5R in a AICS 1.5 stock today for a pretty good deal, and it has a Nikon Monarch 5-20x44 BDC with Target Turrets.

Would you leave this scope on the gun and shoot it as is, or would I be better served selling it and putting the money towards a Mil-Dot scope?

Plans for this gun are range(out to hopefully 1,000) and possibly some varmint/predator hunting. I'd also like to eventually shoot in some local competitions.

If I should sell what optic in the sub $700 range should I look for?

Nice rifle! I would probable sell the Nikon and get a 30mm scope. Zeiss, SWFA, maybe consider the Vortex PST.

I think selling it is probably the best idea.

Now what scope would you recommend for about $700 or less?

I'm thinking 3-15 power range would best, but could be persuaded to go higher.
