I know its bad form to reply to your own posts - never mind. So far 51 people have looked this post, no comments.
I bought one of the Khyber 1-piece mounts. I have a scope sitting in it. The fit and finish seems good. There are a bunch of places to screw things to the mount. It uses the Spuhr diagonal ring style.
The mount is designed to use a Spuhr wedge tool for getting the scope level in the mount, the wedgie tool was included with the mount however the included tool was bent. I had a straight one, it worked fine - the wedgie tool is a little twitchy anyway, never mind.
I have one of those little noteboards for targets - range, ups, windage - that clamps to the rail between the rings or in front of the front ring. In the mount itself, there is no rail spot to clamp my noteboard to. After I clamp the mount to my rail, I think that there will be some exposed rail I can use. I don't use it much so this might matter more to someone else.
The mount includes a small glass-tube-style level. Emphasis on the word "small". And hard to see behind the scope eyepiece.
All that said, it cost about a buck-fifty and I will give it a try.
