View threadThat’s because there are more ignorant rednecks here than on the reservations. As I type this, two wonderful lab mixes are asleep at my feet that were dumped, we think, in our neighborhood. Fatten them up some, get the heart worm that they no doubt have treated, spayed ( we think they may be mother and daughter), and get them adopted to good homes. Great with kids and other dogs. Twain or Will Rogers said, “ I like all dogs more than I do most people. “ I’ll second that!Which is funny because there are more dogs dumped in the south than on all the Indian rez' in the whole country.
Just one guy’s opinion FWIW, but I’ve a hunch the good Lord notices things like that.Which is funny because there are more dogs dumped in the south than on all the Indian rez' in the whole country.
Maybe in your parts, but here the majority of dumped and abandoned dogs are from people who move here from out of state to live on a small piece of property (1/4-1/2 acre lots) and get a dog “for the kids”. Then they find out that the kids are in school all day, they both are at work all day. That’s because there are more ignorant rednecks here than on the reservations. Go to Tractor Supply and bnuy Ivermectin. A years supply for both dogs is around $30 where as Heart guard is about $15 per month each. Give each on .05 ml (thats not much) per month orally. That’s because there are more ignorant rednecks here than on the reservations. Yep, been doing this for years, my old vet (passed away a few years ago) got me on this path. Sheep drench is the general name for it and it can be purchased over the counter at most any Farm and Fleet type store. Your vet probably won't be pleased, but fuck them I save money where I can as long as it does not affect the dogs wellbeing.Five hundredths of a milliliter?

They don’t have time to train the dog properly nor do they know how. The dog gets left at home and chews on things and craps or pees in the house due to poor/no training. They don’t take time to provide exercise for the dog, so they just let it out when they get home. Neighbors complain about the dog running around.
Eventually they realize this isn’t working so they dump the dog. Every dog we have “owned” and loved has been someone else’s cast off. They also have been good breeds that often cost the original owners thousands $$$. The red necks here are much more likely to have and love their animals.
Well, except the meth heads.

Maybe it is different here, I don’t know. I’m sure what you describe happens here as well. Animal control does the best they can, their shelter stays full, though. God bless them, I couldn’t do what they do. We’re affiliated with a good rescue that pays for neutering , heart worm treatment, etc., etc. They are always looking for folks to foster animals and prepare them for adoption. That’s what we’re doing with the two we have.Maybe in your parts, but here the majority of dumped and abandoned dogs are from people who move here from out of state to live on a small piece of property (1/4-1/2 acre lots) and get a dog “for the kids”. To your last statement, can’t take credit for it, but it hangs on our wall. “People will know how large your soul by how you treat a dog. “In the last month, I've started working with three different rescue agencies. We're vaccinating/deworming etc... and trying to get them healthy enough to get to good homes.
Wednesday I had six different dogs in that are in the rescue process.
I euthanize a lot of ferals that cause problems here on the ranch, but anything that is salvageable is worth the effort to get to a good home. Salvageable = not trying to chase cows and kill calves.
And people that are mean to animals get what's coming to them.
Yes.To your last statement, can’t take credit for it, but it hangs on our wall. “People will know how large your soul by how you treat a dog. “
I use this syringe the vet gave me. Its graduated in .1 ml and she showed me to use 1/2 of .1 which is .05 or half way to the .1 on the scale on the syringe. This is for the stuff in the bottom photo. I just squirt it right into her mouth but you could put it on a treat. How do you meter that? Are you sure its not .5ml

I remember feral dogs being freaking EVERYWHERE in Iraq. They were viscious and destructive as hell.Interesting enough, if you kick a cat in Egypt or any other Muslim country, you most likely will get the death penalty due to cats being sacred in those countries. In fact, they are the only animals allowed in mosques and the patrons even put food and water out for them. Dogs on the other hand are HATED in Muslim countries.

Yeah, but the Beagle has an amazing sense of smell. That's how those geniuses were able to find that Achmed had a side of beef, 3 bags of UN stamped rice and a 5lb bucket of Tony Chacheres. That wouldn’t happen if he had a Rottweiler instead of a beagle
Would be cool to watch that piece of shit get ripped apart by a few Rottweilers. That wouldn’t happen if he had a Rottweiler instead of a beagle
I'm doing exactly what my vet told me to do so I'm good with that. She's a very sharp woman and I feel confident she wouldnt mis lead me.Back when I wasn't married to a vet, I got the .5mL suggestion from my vet. So it would appear that perhaps opinions on how to use a medication - off label - will vary. My wife won't touch suggesting that because the dosage on the bottle is for an injection, and some are trying to give it orally... so (in layman's terms) you'll end up with a different rate of absorption. Plus it is off label, and that can bite you in the ass when something unintended happens.
Iverhart has the exact same ingredients as Heartgard, but is about half the price. If your vet won't carry it, or tries to charge you through the nose for it, you can just call in to a place like Chewy and order it through them.
Is that why they fuck dogs?Interesting enough, if you kick a cat in Egypt or any other Muslim country, you most likely will get the death penalty due to cats being sacred in those countries. It's not just in the country. We have 1 house in a subdivision in the Harris/Ft Bend Co area. We have "rescued" untold number of dogs in the subdivision.Maybe in your parts, but here the majority of dumped and abandoned dogs are from people who move here from out of state to live on a small piece of property (1/4-1/2 acre lots) and get a dog “for the kids”. Exactly. I don’t live in the country either, I play in the country. Rather a subdivision with somewhat larger lots interspersed in it.It's not just in the country. We have 1 house in a subdivision in the Harris/Ft Bend Co area. We have "rescued" untold number of dogs in the subdivision.
The worst was an old Cocker that we found wandering. He was old, deaf and almost blind. Dumb ass didn't remember it had a chip. When I called him he was "well we are moving and didn't want to take him with us so I just opened the gate and let him go. He is old and probably won't last much longer".
Animal control had a talk with him but didn't give the old guy back. We already had 2 that we picked up off the street and never found owners. Wish we could have kept him but the 3 didn't get along.
Even had a lab puppy late one afternoon someone tossed out. I was on the patio and heard brakes and a dog screech. I ran around to the main drag and someone hit the puppy in the road. My wife came around to keep anyone else from hitting him and I got the truck and some stiff cardboard and towels to get him on. Ran him to the emergency vet but he didn't make it. Asshole dumped him and an bigger asshole hit him in the road.
There are dozen more stories, all in a residential neighborhood. It seemed it was every month we were finding new dumps.
Assholes are everywhere.

I think you’re confusing a Rottweiler with a Great DaneYeah, but the Beagle has an amazing sense of smell. That's how those geniuses were able to find that Achmed had a side of beef, 3 bags of UN stamped rice and a 5lb bucket of Tony Chacheres.
If it had been a Rottweiler, it would have been drooling all over the floor and trying to hump it's handler's legs.
What a handsome fellow! This guy found us. Just showed up one day and decided to stay. Coolest and funniest mutt I have ever had. Have had only strays and rescues the past 30 years or so.
