A top Russian official accused of directing Natalya Veselnitskaya, the lawyer who met with senior officials of U.S. President Donald Trump's election campaign in Trump Tower in 2016, has died in a helicopter crash.

Russian media reported on October 4 that Russian Deputy Attorney General Saak Karapetyan died when his helicopter crashed into a forest during a flight in the Kostroma region, northeast of Moscow, on October 3.

Russian news agency Interfax reported that the wreckage of a helicopter carrying Karapetyan was found near the village of Vonyshevo. The pilot and a third man were also killed in the crash.

Karapetyan’s links to Veselnitskaya emerged this year, when a case in Switzerland exposed the pair’s operation to recruit a high-level law enforcement official who was supposed to be investigating the Swiss bank accounts of Russian oligarchs and mobsters.

The top investigator was fired for “unauthorized clandestine behavior” and allegations of bribery and breaching secrecy laws. Swiss authorities discovered that the officer -- who was identified only as Victor K. -- had met Karapetyan in Geneva and Zurich.

Before Christmas 2016, Karapetyan telephoned the official and invited him to Moscow, where he was put up in a luxury hotel and asked to attend a meeting with Veselnitskaya.

The Daily Beast reported that the meeting with Veselnitskaya likely concerned fallout from the death of Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who was working to expose a massive fraud that implicated the Kremlin when he was arrested, beaten, and left to die in a Russian prison.

In the aftermath of Magnitsky's death, his client, former Russian investment fund manager Bill Browder, campaigned to enact a series of anticorruption laws around the world in his name. The U.S. Magnitsky Act was passed in 2012.

Veselnitskaya has been one of the top Russian advocates lobbying to overturn the Magnitsky laws.

When she arranged to meet with former Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort, Donald Trump Jr., and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, at Trump Tower in June 2016, leaked e-mails say she was offering dirt on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton allegedly given to her by Karapetyan’s Prosecutor-General's Office.

At the meeting, Veselnitskaya has acknowledged that she attempted to lobby the senior Trump officials on the U.S. Magnitsky law, which Putin retaliated against by barring Americans from adopting Russian children.

Karapetyan and Veselnitskaya also worked together on another job linked to Magnitsky, according to leaked e-mails. U.S. authorities brought a civil case against a company called Prevezon for its alleged links to laundering proceeds of the fraud that Magnitsky uncovered.

Karapetyan also played a role in the Kremlin's handling of British allegations that Russia was behind attacks and killings targeting prominent Russians in Britain in recent years.

He lashed out at Britain earlier this year for claiming Russia was behind a nerve-agent attack on former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, calling the allegation "baseless" and "provocative," according to Interfax.

The key here is the Magnitsky Act. I heard it is estimated that, without the Magnitsky Act, Vladimir Putin's PERSONAL net worth would be $200 BILLION.
So is the conspiracy that Putin got Trump elected to overturn Magnitsky Act and Trump would get a nice kickback and finally become a billionaire again?
Is it Hillary wound up with the key to the vault and stole some of Vlads money and is scared shitless that she'll get caught (or too up her own ass to think Vlad can't poison her)
Or is it the most obvious answer: @ArmyJerry has spent it all acquiring Federal, Remington, and Winchester so he can AMA (acquire more ammo) at no more expense.
Putin won't stop his assassinations, that's for sure. And, looks like, neither will Hillary.

I mean, I said it was a conspiracy so no real evidence but the above happened not long after Russian agents deployed some kind of nerve agent (Novichek) in the England. I know you believe that England is still USA's enemy #1 but they had our backs in the Afghan/Iraq invasion while Russia has been fighting a proxy war against us in Syria.

@ArmyJerry I said conspiracy. It's all in good fun in fantasy fiction land. It is unsubstantiated bunk drivel but it is fun to think about. Like what you would do if you win the lottery type shit. It makes an insecure guy like myself feel good that the most powerful person in the world shits like I do.

What's with the hatred to NPR? They give unbiased, straight to the facts reporting of the news. They do have some opinion and other reporting pieces but for my morning commute they are perfect. Plus they interview some high level people (Benjamin Netanyahu was on the other day!).
I know what's important in my life so I like to play up/play down/play with the real motives behind politics. It may seem grandiose but following Occam's Razor, all of it is just incompetence. So much incompetence that we are paying for. A shit ton of money for them to blow on confirmation hearings, telecasting their melt downs on TV, passing bloated budgets and all that shit. The reality is so sad which is what makes conspiracy theories so fun!

You know what? One of the things that pisses me off the most about these formal events is the formality.

Fuck the thank yous. People did their jobs, and every one of those people were consuming my money right then. Be more efficient. "Hi, I believe we have done very good work since we last spoke. Anything more formal than that leads to primadonnas that think they're God's gift to the world. Public sector workers at any level should take their own time to appreciate the pride they have in their work, or at gatherings intended for that purpose.

A press conference is not the time to recognize people. Not even foreign dignitaries and shit. Especially not for shit that isn't relevant to the press conference. Get to the point.

Speaking of points, though. When that Russian version of Cuomo started speaking fast in Russian about natural gas and how he's butthurt that we're competing, I paused the video and wondered if the earpiece Trump is wearing noise-cancels and translates in real-time for him? He's nodding like he knows Russian. Unpaused, and sure as hell. It was either doing that, or the question was translated beforehand and played back. Judging by Trumps answer, whatever it was, it did a very good job. Who made it?

As for the actual discussion here, I don't see anything that would lead me to conclude that Russia and the USA must be enemies, or that because Europe 'helped' us out in a war that sparked the 'New World Order'. In short, I don't see how any of your points are valid.

Going further, though... I'd be really curious to see how collaborating with the Russians works out when it comes to enemies of the state. Putin is none too happy with HRC, and neither are we. Maybe it looks wrong if HRC is arrested while Trump is president just because of US interests. Maybe if Russia ALSO wants a piece of her, and we give them a piece, it'll look so wrong that all the extremist leftist idiots' heads will explode simultaneously, for the most part, and with some scattered storms as the following weeks progress.

TLDR; Your points are invalid.

Cuz I watched the video, and I understood almost everything that was being said.

Trumps run for presidency marked the first election since I payed attention to elections where the probability that it would be possible to find at least one candidate that wasn't a communist was very high. There are certain metrics by which I have tracked that probability post-election, and as time has progressed, the probability that Trump is a communist has decreased in a consistent manner.

This video you brought up is another datapoint, and it really does nothing to alter my opinion of the man.

I'm really interested to know what you're trying to get at.

If you sincerely think NPR is unbiased...let’s say im concerned with your perceptive abilities. It’s not as overt as, say, CNN, I’ll give you that, but it’s there...underpinning every word.

I used to listen to NPR a lot but it started to piss me off with its subtle liberal bullshit.

I listen to npr morning addition. Best news on the radio around here. I won’t have it on if the kids are with me because of the sick queer shit they sometimes slip in. I wouldn’t recommend it to uninformed mush heads that don’t have a bs filter.

Well NPR morning addition is what I usually listen to and they just kind of roll through all the events that are happening globally, which I like. Then, if I roll into work late, Texas Standard Time is a good time for local news and general knowledge about the state.

At first I thought NPR was unbiased because they are very subtle about it, but I discovered their tell. The host will allow a liberal guest to lie and push their agenda forever without interruption. A conservative guest can only deliver a couple of sentences before the but..buts start spewing forth and the guest is never allowed to make their point. The conservative guest is effectively shut down. It worked on everyone except Sebastian Gorka.

This is the rare case where I believe this was just an accident.

HRC would have done a "botched robbery" or car accident.

If Putin did it, it would probably be a disappearance, possibly seen by witnesses in broad daylight.

If Obama did it, Michelle is the muscle and would have probably beaten him to death with her penis.

I don't think he could have ever been compelled to testify in the US and since Putin just wants political instability, having him around and unanswered questions is perfect.

Everyone knows HRC was running the DNC which is why Bernie's campaign got tanked but the DNC is theoretically separate from Hillary's campaign and Spygate was run through the DNC and FBI so there is enough separation there that Hillary shouldn't have to kill him.

I can't make murder make sense for this one unless it's another player or an entirely different motive behind it.

Unless of course, the FBI has been investigating HRC, and found out that there was a link with him (who is directly tied to the Kremlin). If so, then it just becomes a question of was it the Clinton's to cover their ass that did it, or was it Putin, tying off loose ends.

I'm generally not much of a tinfoil hat wearing kind of guy. However, recent government actions from Russia, USA, China, and the EU have brought me to the point where I wouldn't be very surprised if some weird conspiracy was proven true.

The USA has been screwing around in the elections of various countries in various fashions for decades, so it only makes sense that Russia, China, or some other country would be doing the same thing. The Iran-Contra hearings were just the first widely publicized meddling in the elections of other countries that came to light. I presume meddling in elections was being done by plenty of countries long before Iran-Contra though.

If it was Uranium One related, I can see that being a reason to get Killintoned but I haven't heard of a connection like that and as I said, helicopter crash with extra victims doesn't fit Hillary's MO.

It's possible to sabotage or shoot down a helicopter but it's not easy to make it look accidental because the investigations are thourough.

And if it was Putin, he wouldn't need to be subtle.

You know helicopters just crash some times...
