I'm thinking about purchasing a Kimber Advanced Tactical .308 sniper rifle. Does anyone have any personal experience with them? A buddy of mine works at a local gun shop and can get me one for around $1700 (smoking deal) brand new thru Kimber!!!

Hard to pass up at that price.

Your input is much appreciated :)

Re: Kimber Advanced Tactical

$1700 shouldnt be that bad, then you will the spare change to have the bedding fixed and Kimpro finish removed from the chamber. Nice rifles but I had issues with mine that are all worked out now. For the price those issues shouldnt have existed. The thing I wish it did have though was a DBM setup. CDI had a Kimber Tactical for sale a while back that had one which being his personal rifle was a one off.

McM A5 Adj Stock,
Kimber actions are pretty nice with the ejector and extractor setup.
The barrels are meh
the finish seems durable
Triggers can be adjusted and can be real nice

Comes with a Storm case fitted, which is a heavy bitch. Very functional though.

I wasn't aware of the Kim-pro finish going to the inside of the chamber :-( How would one even go about getting it out? What is the issue with the bedding that you're referring to? I would imagine it's the area that extends under the barrel. Please elaborate.

Poke,

If I was going to have the stock/action re-bedded, where would be a good place to start looking???

I experienced the same thing while finger f**king one at a local gun shop!

I just pulled the trigger on the rifle. They seem to have them in stock now so no 15 month wait!!! After all the work you've had done to yours would you say you're pretty happy with it? I just can't seem to find anything in the price range i'm looking at that would seem to be a better choice. Even if the price included the extra $250 for custom bedding.

Re: Kimber Advanced Tactical

alot has changed since 2009, more work is going into the rifles, and kim-pro in the bore is no longer an issue, the bedding could be improved and steps are being taken to do so..

Re: Kimber Advanced Tactical

I have to agree with the bolt issue. That straight bolt handle makes fast follow up a pain if you dont shoot alot. $1700 is one smoking deal. Mine does it's best with 168 handloads, I can hold 10 round groups under an inch all day long.
