Had a fella ship me 100 pieces of brass that he said was lake city 300wm, it had been deprimed and cleaned. He said he picked it up at a navy training shoot. The brass has FC 07 300 Win Mag on the headstamp. This looks like Federal brass to me what do yall think?

Re: Lake City 300 WM brass

Its A191 brass which is Federal under contract to the NAV and DOD in general. Not LC but LC doesn't make 300WM so...... it's as close as you will get. Good brass BTW, got a bunch.

Cheers,

Doc

Re: Lake City 300 WM brass

The brass is essentially "good" Federal brass and in general is very consistent. I have some I have loaded 5 or 6 times but have used the Magnum Collet die after 4 firings which is about normal for warm 300WM loads. I don't have a good price for it but I would imagine about the same a Win brass for ease of comparison.

Cheers,

Doc

Re: Lake City 300 WM brass

It seems to be holding up well for me. About to start my third loading on part of the batch of 400 I purchased a while back. I need to invest in the Willis collet die and an annealing kit.

I hear you on the collet die. I ran 15 rounds through the fl resizer, loaded them up and went to the range. All of them were too big above the belt and stuck in the chamber. I am sure the collet die would fix this, but I just don't fell like dropping a 100 bucks on it.
