I went ahead and scheduled an appointment at the Marengo Ohio test center for 2 of my rifles. I received a "successfully submitted" email from the test center stating the request was received, but this was not an actual confirmation of the appointment. Just wondering how long it usually takes for them to get back with confirmation. Trying to schedule the day off from work as far ahead as possible. Any help would be appreciated. Or maybe even a number to reach Luke direct at the facility.

Thank you,
Gjmen22

Only $50? I've been told it's around $1k by a few people. Maybe things changed. For $50 I'll drive down and do it.
$1k charge just to test. LoL! 😂That would certainly peg my BS meter....

The $50 fee is outlined on the Lapua site and they only accept checks or credit cards. No cash.

it was NEVER $1k to test.

I looked all over the site didn't find it. Emailed and called a few times and got nothing so gave up once I asked around and heard $1k. Maybe they were including buying 10k in ammo after 😂

It's $1k to buy one brick of 5000 rounds of CenterX after the test (whatever lot shot the best in your gun). Which is the minimal size you can buy.
I would not bother with the testing, unless I was going to buy the ammo anyways...

Call Luke, but understand he''s usually testing ammo in the test center, so leave a message to confirm your appointment, and he'll get back to you. I visited to have my rifle tested last year when they first opened. It's a good experience, and I'm sure you will enjoy, and hopefully, find a lot or two that shoots very well in your rifles.

Good luck!

The price of the ammunition is set by what your selected dealer charges and the type of ammunition purchased (I.e. Center-X, Midas +).
Shipping charges are also based on the supplier you choose, which can also make a difference.

So you're not buying it from Laura directly?

No. They do not want to undercut their dealers.

When you purchase ammo, they ask what dealer you want to use for the transaction. The financial side goes through the dealer and they get the sales credit. Dealer arranges the shipping from the Lapua warehouse to your designated delivery address.

Luke actually got back with me pretty quick. The problem was his email ended up in my spam folder and I didn't realize it. . So all is good. I'm excited for the day to come. I will actually be taking 2 rifles. 9 more days. :D It's not nearly as bad as the waiting for the Vudoo to show up.

I had to ship mine out and they didn't waive any testing fees. It was worth my time though as we went through quite a few Midas+ and Center-X and some performed considerably better than the others.

Question... what type of rifle and what kind of groups/accuracy did they find with the best ammo?

Gjmen22, I have attached a summary for you to review which is a report of my experience at the Test Center. It addresses your question and includes feedback from Luke. If I were closer, I would not test ammo myself, I would just take my rifle to Luke when I ran low on a lot of ammo to find another good lot to use. Also, bring any and all questions to Luke. He tests ammo/rifles all day so has a lot of experience with them and can help answer many questions about the process as well. Lastly, I have a Part 2 of the report which contains pictures during the trip at the Center. It's too large to upload, but if you would like to see them, send me a PM with your email address and I will gladly send them to you.

Good Luck!
