I have a 20"" LaRue 6.5 CM uu kit, bought in March 2018. Most of the rifle I like.
Nice BCG, it's my first chromed or at least not black, cleans up super quick. The polished contact points are a nice touch imo.
Over all fit and finish is good. Some people have complained abou the lines of the upper and lower are kinda mismatched. I can see what the are saying, but its not an issue for me. The upper kit and lower are ordered separate, mine fit together nice and tight, I've read others didn't.
My biggest complaint about the 6.5 CM is they went with a 1:10 twist, accuracy with 140gr, Hornady match, and American Gunner is mediocre. 130's are a little better, but not what I would call precise, as in not sub MOA at least not in my hands consistantly . The barrel does clean up quickly. LaRue has been making their own barrels for a while, I think they used to use Lothar Walther barrels. I have an older LW barrel on a .308 savage, I like it alot. I wonder if the rifle would be better if LaRue were still using LW. Maybe the .308 you are interested in will be better matched up. One other complaint is the barrel extention was sloppy in the upper when I put it together. I shimmed it and it did help some.
I ordered 2 extra LaRue mags with the uu kit, they work great, just a little pricey. MagPuls work without issue as well.
Mine has the tranquilo brake, but as Illinois is not suppressor friendly, I just have the brake. It looks cool, and I'd say it works. I never fired it with the A2 bird cage. My brake was shipped separately due to being out of stock. It showed up before my lower otherwise I could give a comparison.
LaRue was great anytime I called with questions. Mostly I wanted their opinion on what to use on the barrel nut, they did say anti sieze. I've called to verify the twist rate and about buffer weights. It does come with an H2, they don't sell an H3. The buffer tube is carbine length. I wanted a MagPul PRS stock and it takes a rifle length tube. LaRue sells a rifle length with the interior cut for a carbine buffer $50. It is not really listed on their website, but with a phone call set me up.
Range reliability has been solid, no issues with mine.
I have not shot a Predator or OBR, but they have a solid internet reputation AFAIK. The uu kit is probably not the same. Would I buy another? Maybe.
If I had experience with a MWS I'd be able to weigh the cost difference.
My LMT MRP CQB in 5.56 is reliable, tight and well finished. The 16" cl barrel is not precise, the 18" SS is better, not sub MOA. MOA yes, just not sub. I have a LMT 22" SS .224 Valkyrie barrel showing up tomorrow from another Hide member. Hoping that one is a nailer.
Im giving a limited brand comparison not an apples to apples.
An UU might be everything you want performance/cost wise. I think a Predat/OBR will have better resale value to the informed. The MWS should be solid according to anything I've read. My only hang up with LMT is the proprietary barrel extension/ barrel cost & barrel choices, but again that's my 5.56 platform issue and may be different with the MWS.
KAC is out of my price range so no comment.
