Gunsmithing Lathe Warmup

Was wondering how long you guys let your lathes warm up before going for a dead nuts dial in? My G4003G seems to need a good period of running before I can dial in tenths without constantly chasing it.

I have the same lathe. I indicate cold. Let it run [MENTION=27373]360[/MENTION] for 15 min or so and re- check it. Rarely do I ever have to make an adjustment.

I have the G0709. I run it forward for 10 min and then reverse for 10 and then final indicate. Like 7mmRM, I don't seem to see any changes.

G4003g run it for 10-15 mins @ 600 rpms, then dial it in.

Ive always put my lathes in reverse for 5-10 min then forward for 5-10 minutes. Then I indicate everything in.

I just leave it running overnight
