Anyone shot or play with the lazzeroni warbird?
I know it would more than likely be a barrel burning round, but
I was looking at the velocities they get, cost of the brass ect. and thought it might be fun to build one for the 240 grain matchkings. It is hard to find good load comparing data to the 300 ultra, or for the 240 grain matchking for that matter. With a .711 bc @ 2150 it has me interested.

Re: lazzeroni warbird?

I owned a SA Lazerroni Patriot at one time maybe 8 years ago......brass was very high for his stuff then. They are capable of good velocity compared to comparable factory rounds developed since his stuff was done.

Re: lazzeroni warbird?

1) 240 SMK actual G1 BC is 0.647 average
2) The performance of other rounds (300 Norma Mag, 300 RUM, 300 Hulk, 30-375 Ruger) is just as good if not better.
3) Barrel life on the high performance LA Warbird is around the same as the RUM, sub 1000 rounds but variable depending upon how it's treated.

Cheaper to shoot a .50

That is the average value from 3000 down to 1500, the actual single value that you'd use if you were using a single value input calculator and shooting long range.

Buy Litz's book and you can get the 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5kfps values and adjust for what distance you're actually shooting.

Tom Sarver's running them at 2800 from the 300 Hulk when he set the record at 1k. He can get them a little over 3k from what I've been told.

Similar speeds with the 300 NM, RUM and 30-375.

Hornady's got a 225 BTHP that has a better BC and from the testing that Mr. Dave Tooley was involved with, the bullet is every bit as consistent at the 240 is with more speed and better numbers.
