Haven't seen too much out there as far as reviews (1 or 2 but they didn't stay on topic) but I've been thinking of getting one for a 16" AR10 in 308 as a "combat optic". I've had their 1-4x before and it was a decent little optic with usable reticle and okay glass for the money. The CMR-8 looks good on paper and so does the reticle but wondering if anyone on The Hide has played with one.

I have one and have been playing with it for a bit.
It is not as polished of a piece as the higher end 1-8x scopes, but it works well. Mine has been on a couple of guns and stayed zeroed. I mostly use the reticle for holdover/wind with this scope and it works pretty well for that.

At 1x, all the small reticle features are not really visible, so whatever is inside the circle gets shot. All in all, it is a nice option for the money. There are a couple of things I would like to see improved and I fed it all back to HiLux, but as is the scope is pretty decent.

I know most FFP scopes don't really have daylight bright illumination, I take it this is no different? At 1x do the donuts light up nicely, at least good enough for a FFP scope? I will mostly use the reticle for holdovers/wind like yourself but have you tested the tracking on it?

I have not spent a whole lot of time on tracking. It tracked true when I was sighting it in.

The illumination is not day bright, but the donuts are thick and visible, so at 1x, the reticle stands out very well. In anything but the brightest light, illumination is sufficiently bright.
