Left 75 deg Texas for this?

Hmmm...perhaps some perspective. I live in Socal, with folks and family in Texas (San Antonio to be accurate) and spend a great deal of my vacation time in the upper midwest (Montana).

San Antonio is getting pretty bad (even my elderly folks are talking about leaving), and they live on the north side.

I think it depends on what you want, because you ain't going to get both. Easy, convenient city living (with all the associated bullshit that comes with living in a city) or harsh, desolate (and free) living that requires some planning and intestinal fortitude to gut out the rough times (whether it be weather, loneliness, sparse employment), etc.). Personally, I'm of the "get off my fucking lawn" type of guy that prefers the wide open spaces, cordial but irregular neighborly interactions that goes with real country living (not the suburban version of "country estate living" which never lasts more than 10 years before it starts to fill up, traffic gets crazy, and you end up as just another planned community). Kind of impossible to have both (country living and urban convenience), so I tend to prefer the "plan you shit, stock your pantry, always have a back up plan to the back up plan" that goes with rural life.

As to Texas...well, my mother (who has lived there now for 20+ years with my father) has a humorous saying that is oft quoted around the Christmas dinner table...

"Welcome to Texas, where everything is bigger...especially the assholes."

Yes... Texas is worthless, please everyone stop moving here. It is way to expensive to live and the politics suck... yep yall just go on to Montana or the Dakotas... Please tell your families to come with you... I'll wave as they drive north...

As texas has 3 of the top ten fastest growing metropolitan areas in the nation, and one of the best tax environments for buisness to start and grow... The people moving in are SCREWING up our real estate... I'm praying Cali market crashes hard and then ppl will be able to aford to stay the hell out of here

Going to be low 20s in the morning... Yall yankees come take your weather back, i'm fucking over it

Thanks, ya'll, I needed a good comedy routine this morning.

I lived in Texas for some 20 years. If you get out of the cities, into the Hill Country, or farther west, Texas is a pretty nice place. But there is this:

"If I owned Texas and Hell, Id rent out Texas and live in Hell." General William Tecumseh Sherman

It's because of your large metro areas that liberals are moving there, as well as many large businesses leaving California, moving their headquarters to TX, as well as assisting current employees with the move. The parasites will soon take over, and it will become a solidly blue state.

WY has the lowest population in the USA, and we like it that way.

Are you a Texan or a Jersey Boy?

Did you just try to use a large city as a supporting argument? Lmao....

Yes. Wyoming sucks. There is nothing here and no jobs. Texas is amazing. Everyone should move there.

Don't have to move to TX for jobs, just drive drive there for work.

Property taxes in Nebraska are way higher than Colorado. With what we pay for our utilities in CO it all comes out in the wash. We have to look at everything when figuring cost of living.

Fuck Texas. :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

I was born and raised in Jersey and lived in many places since I left to the Army,,, lived in Texas 3 times,,, Texas is a higher taxed state than 44 other states almost tied with NJ.... all in... its a goddam ponzi scheme in this fucking state...

yeah dumbass. But you forgot that we don't pay income tax, and our real estate prices are low as fuck. I made 100k last year.

so 6% basically of my income went towards income tax and property tax. That's called a fucking deal.

Paid 6,100 last year in property taxes. In the 2nd highest property taxed area of san antonio (IE where the money is)

From a guy born and raised in NJ. So I know what shit is.

Push your legislators for laws that protect you if some queers want a cake or laws that make queers use the proper restroom. I'm generally not a fan of more laws, but these types of laws keep the leftists from moving to your State. They won't even visit.

Yeah Texas is growing alright, thousands of California businesses and hundreds of thousands of Californians is gonna be great for Texas.

That’s right. Stay in the fuggin south. You Texans can keep your retard level property taxes. Mine are probably 1/10th what you “Lone Star” guys bend over and spread for.

I'm looking at 100 acres in SW Texas right now. Property taxes would be a bit under $80/month but its got an Ag exemption by letting a nearby ranchs cattle graze there. Land is up against a 2500 acre lake with good fishing, well water is only 100 feet down, over 300 days of sun a year to generate electricity and edible wildlife includes whitetail, axis deer, sitka, elk, moufloun, audad, turkey, dove, wild boar and some random exotics. Glad I escaped the south for Texas.

IMO its the leftest plan to grow the largest cities in all the states to turn the states blue. Any large/popular area of the state has such outrageous property taxes its crazy. That idiot Perry ran around poaching companies from commifornia and new yank..... not to mention doing nothing in the way of stemming the tide of illegals. Lets not forget about that wonderful cheap labor from the third world shitholes.....

Perry was a lifelong Dem who understood you need to have an R after your name to win in Texas so switched to become Ag Commissioner. Leopards dont change their spots though. Didnt support him on his Presidential run for that reason. Rs are moderately fooled though. Takes more of a former actor like Reagan and Trump to pull it off.
