Guys I need help. What calls should I be using on my FoxPro for this time of year? We have plenty of coyotes on the farm i hunt. We kill at least 5 every deer season. I get skunked every time I go except or very short night season here in Missouri.

Recommend some good sounds for this time of year. Please. Or a good podcast,site or YouTube channel to watch.

Podcasts: Geoff Neomnich on Eastman's predator pros.
John Collins on the foxpro podcast. They are the 2 biggest. There are a half dozen smaller guys that do pretty well too.

As far as youtube channels, just seach "coyote hunting" and stay a while.

Sounds this time of year:

If you're new to this, I'll tell you a secret: the sound you're playing is almost the least important part of the stand. Locating, setting up the stand correctly in the light and the wind, being in proximity without being detected etc. are what matters most. Then there are just a few categories of sounds, so you can get creative from there. If you don't understand their life cycle, you'll struggle with this. This is also one of the most difficult times of the year to kill them. They have 3-6 week old puppies in the dens. The mothers aren't going out of sight of the pups, and the male and any tenders aren't going further than neccessary for food. If you live somewhere with a lot of prey, that might be a 200y circle. There is always a chance at stragglers and nomads, or that you'll get near a den, but it's tough.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. I started mid year last year and I am horrible at it. I have tried running some of the sounds I see on the FoxPro YouTube channel. But I am not seeing much and can not figure out what I am doing wrong. Like I was saying we have decent kill on them during deer season every year.

I can explain that too. The pups leave the dens sept/Oct and hit the big world alone. They run straight into deer hunters, cars, suburbia, whatever. They are pretty easy to kill then, since they are just a few months old. After one fall/ winter of being shot at by everyone hunting every other huntable species, and every farmer, rancher, or anyone with chickens, the few that survive to breeding season are pretty smart. Sprinkle in new coyote hunters running around setting up unwind and playing everything on the call at max volume, they get really hard to kill after breeding season. There are also less callable coyotes alive right now than any other time of year.

The only way to cheat the learning curve is to find a mentor. Most coyote hunters are pretty generous with their knowledge, and happy to hunt with less experienced folks, as long as they don't cost them too many coyotes. If you have your own ground to hunt, that's a big plus. I live in TN, and plan to hunt MO at the next opportunity, so if you have access to enough ground, I'd be willing to come up and hunt with you some weekend if you wanted to..

This time of year i like to get as close as possible, which is easier without crunchy snow. Curiosity sounds like lucky bird and then fawn distress of course. As stated previously, almost anything can work if your set is good. I've had good luck in the spring but it's certainly not like winter. Like anything else it is area dependent.
