Republic of Texas.
Looked at an HMR today. Highly impressed. Couple of questions though...

It obviously has a different bolt release than a 700. Are there any aftermarket triggers for them? If you do get one and it needs rebarreling, will a prefit work?

I want to like this gun! $950 ain’t bad for what you are getting. Opinions welcomed, pics are better. No damn purse swinging in here,

Yes, any rem 700 trigger will work. Just take the bolt release off. Should be a simple screw or e clip or two as shown here to remove it from a new trigger.

No, remage prefit barrels wont work. The bergara uses the same threading but the breech face will be different.
The remington 700 bolt has a recessed bolt nose, there is a counterbore cut in the barrel to allow for this

A bergara has a coned bolt nose, as such it can not properly fit into a proper remington style barrel. You will have to have this done special for a new bergarra barrel, not prefits on the shelf ready to go.

Great info! Thank you! So on a barrel, a smith should be able to make it happen correct? This seems like a lot of rifle for the money.

Yes a smith can rebarrel it

Lol

I’ve also heard that Bergara themselves will put a new tube on for 500 bucks or something.

Sounds like a stupid question I’m sure, but I Have a habit of finding messed up shit that you can’t find somebody to work on. LOL thanks for all the help.

As far as them doing it, seems like 500 may be a deal.

Bergara will rebarrel from what I've been told for $500 with stainless barrel, cerakoted, test fired, labor and shipping and handling included. As for aftermarket trigger I've currently got a TriggerTech Remington 700 Special for right hand, no bolt release, curved with PVD black coated safety mounted in mine. By the way BassPro has the Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" barrel instead of the 22" as everywhere else.

I wonder if they'd put a longer barrel on their .308. Not a huge fan of the 20-incher on the HMR.
Give them a call and ask, it might change the price by a bit but I'm sure they'd probably do it since they've been in the barrel making business longer than the rifle making business, and produce different lengths, contour, and caliber bolt action and AR barrels. Rifle barrels from Bergara grace a lot of actions from other manufacturers including custom shops.

By the way, forgot to mention, no need to remove the bolt release from any of the TriggerTech triggers whether you order the Primary, Special, or Diamond you can order them just as you want with, or without and several other options from TriggerTech. That's what I did, hassle free and usually took a week from date of order.
