Lets export our defense contracting ...

We just need to reprioritize. We definitely need to do what the japs do and hold the builders to their estimates. China may have more but it’s a first gen navy. Even our smaller numbers are stull
Infinitely better as we have experience on our side…..for now. At the rate we are going all we will have is a bunch of unqualified SWO’s in their position because they are not white males.

Unions have killed all US industry.
Lawyers and rigid adherence to terms and specs are killing industry. The contractor can/will only build what‘s in the contract, if something needs to get changed it’s gonna cost a lot of time and money…

It's not just the defense contractors. We can't seem to build anything on time or budget anymore, power plants, refineries, roads, bridges....
Part of it is the skilled workers, I'm not a big fan of the unions. They have helped solve some of the issues, and also created just as many problems. There is also a big gap in leaders and progression that I have seen in the power generation industry. The efficiency groups like McKinsey are doing things to the industry that look good now and save us money now, but have killed the middle class, killed the progression and driven a gap in the leaders. The fight between the big HR machine and the unions of the craft workers has also created this worker that does the bare minimum, no incentive to do more, supervisors are just a babysitter and can't do anything to make any improvements as they get wind up like the little white girl on the couch if they try to do anything.

Starting with holding these contractors to there price is a start. They know they can low ball the contact with strict scope of work. So every time there is something outside of scope they can make up the money on it.
The change also needs to be happening at the school level with kids learning to do things. We had a buddy that had a foreign exchange student a few years back. That kids younger brother wanted to go into the electrical / instrument controls industry, he just turned 18 and already has 2 full years of experience and is extremely skilled in the Siemens industrial T3K control system.

Look at the difference in NASA vs Space X on getting something accomplished.

What issues have union's solved? That I am interested in knowing.

Our parents, in my case peeps having kids in the 60’s, held blue collar jobs - plumbers, waitresses, lathe operators, carpenters- had multiple kids, bought houses, owned a solid car and realized that their kids were going to have lives that exceeded theirs in everything.

That’s gone.

I work in base manufacturing we make stuff needed to become parts for a complete product. I buy the raw materials.

In the 60s-70s the people that run the machines that press out thousands of the same exact part - think Tupperware - do not have that security in life that those 60-70s workers had.

In fact all of them come through a temp agency.

Blame NAFTA and our desire for cheap products now at the expense of living wages and the future for our youth.

Ever heard of the company store?

Child labor?

Yes..... so?

The company store has been replaced with Credit Card debt and Taxes. So you are a slave to the GOV and not the company...... that is soo much better..... NOPE

Kids working, better than shooting up the place. Sounds like we need to repeal that and get those animals in Chicago to work. They also didn't have tthe tme to wonder what fucking gender they were.

So please tell me how this is better?

FYI.... child labor was not removed by the unions. They hated it because it undercut their power so they lobbied the GOV to outlaw it. That was the the first step in the GOV supporting socialism and getting away from a free market economy.

FUCK thise commie unions.
