Movie Theater Let's have an argument -- Which is the Best Bond Movie...

Skyfall…
Being the age I am.. Daniel Craig is who I grew up with. Casino Royale and Skyfall are absolutely great.
But Golden Eye was a complete fckn masterpiece. So overall probably gotta say
1. Golden Eye
2. Skyfall(just felt grittier than the others)
3. Casino Royale

ETA random trivia: you can pick up a Browning Hi Power in the background in a couple Bond scenes, a reference to his days in the SBS before joining the Brit OGA.
Current fruitiness aside, Brits are the original masters of intel secret squirrel stuff. The history of SOE in WW2 is amazing

Goldeneye is a fckn masterpiece man I’m serious, loved everything about it. Facing off against 006, etc

But honestly idgaf what anyone says.. Denise Richards was by far the hottest Bond chick.. can’t remember which movie it was but holy hell that’s a badass woman

For Your Eyes Only
Octopussy

Though likely partial because I saw them in the theater as a kid.

Tie.

Live and Let Die

So many things new and different about this version. First Roger Moore, some like him some hate him but he did bring a decidedly different look to the series

Use of the S&W 44 magnum.

The boat chase, setting a world record boat jump in the process

And featuring parts of real Louisiana and Not Just New Orleans. (Yes, there are other parts of Louisiana OUTSIDE of the city limits of New Orleans)

Brenda and I spent a wonderful evening watching it on a date before we got married. Purchased our first boat together, a Glastron no less, not long after the movie.

Casino Royal (Daniel Craig version)

for much of the same reasons that Live and Let Die.

Craig brings a refreshing change to the series. To my mind the series had seemed to stagnate. The settings were exceptional in this episode. The action decidedly different.

Nothing against Sean Connery knowing everyone thinks he is the bees knees but not my favorite

Again for the sake of argument, these are my thoughts, your milage may vary

"From Russia with Love", for me... for one reason, my wife is the spitting image of Daniela Bianchi... to the point of even wearing a black chocker ribbon to bed the first time we spent the night... she knew what I liked... :)

Which one is she?

I grew up watching Bond movies, Connery as TV reruns and Moore onwards in the theater. Connery to a young kid was just cool. The Moore movies in retrospect were kinda slapstick dumb. Dalton was interesting and had promise. Brosnan… couldn’t get past him as Remington Steele. Liked some of the Craig movies, grittier, darker, and he actually needed to change his suit after a brawl.

By actor, my fav’s are:

Connery: Thunderball and his remake Never Say Never
Moore: For Your Eyes Only
Dalton: Living Daylights
Brosnan: Golden Eye
Craig: Skyfall and Casino Royale

Been watching them on Prime over the last few nights.

For me, it's definitely From Russia With Love. Remember that Fleming wrote most of his books in the '50s during the cold war. From Russia With Love debuted in '63 and reflected that period. Fleming's Bond was based on characters he knew during WWII experience in British Navy Intelligence. His knowledge of trade-craft also reflects this. The literary Bond was a hard drinking, chain smoking, gruff character. The Bond of FRWL drives an old Bentley drop head and it's most hi-tech feature is a car phone (two-way radio).

Fast forward four our five years and I'm at Fort Holabird MD USAINTS (US Army Intelligence School) going to school for 97C MOS. On our reading list are Fleming's books.

That would be an interesting reading list.

FRWL was always enjoyable.
