Rifle Scopes Leupold MR/T 1.5-5 equivalent

I am thinking of purchasing the Leupold MR/T 1.5-5. However, given their current practices I am looking for an equivalent in the same price range ($700-900).
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

There are several nice choices here, although you have to decide whether you want illumination and which reticle suits you best.

In order of price, from low to high:

Bushnell Elite 4200 1.25-4x24
Weaver Super Slam 1.5-5x24 (I have not looked at this one yet)
Burris Euro Diamond 1-4x24
Burris XTR 1-4x24
Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x24
Meopta Meostar 1-4x24
IOR 1.1-4x26

I have played with all of these aside from the Weaver which is new. Overall, I liked the Trijicon very much on the strength of the bright reticle.

Ilya,

Thanks for the info. It still looks like for me Leupold has the most appeal - mostly because of its retical and perceived quality.
How does Burris XTR compare to Leupold MR/T?

Reticle choice is very personal, of course. As far as quality goes, Leupold makes nice scopes, but I do not think they have any advantage over the competition in the quality department.

Burris XTR is a nice choice with an interesting reticle. One thing to note is that when you change magnification, the whole eyepiece turns. On one hand changing magnificaiton is veyr quick: just grab the eyepiece. On the other hand, if you keep Butler Creek caps on the scope the ocular one will change position.

Optically, I think XTR is a little better than the Leupy, but they are not far apart.

What "current practices"?

There is a lot of griping and bitching about Leupold that goes on here. Apparently many of the guys expect L&S to fulfill their every need, in every way and do so with exceptional promptness.

I own a # 56994 mk4 mr/t spr scope and it is a damn fine optic and versatile beyond most others in its price range and range of magnification. The reticle is the most usable close-range and distance reticle I have seen. The 1/2 moa m2 turrets are great, the battery has lasted about 18mos, and the scope is lighter than most other "tactical" offerings of similar features.

I own a NightForce 2.5-10x; wish it had the spr reticle.
I owned a Millett 1-4x DMR scope and it was heavy and about what you'd expect for $200.
I own several 0-4 power rifle and shotgun scopes, leupold, pentax, & nikon. All are good rugged instruments. None offer the features of the Mk4, but nothing beats the leupold vxII for a carryhandle mounted scopesight, and I tried a Hensoldt Z24 in that application as well.

The Leupold mk 4 mr/t spr is arguably the best scopesight in its category for many reasons.
