Rifle Scopes Leupold vx freedom red dot

What is the deal with this red dot? I did a search and didn't really see anything on it. A few YouTube vids but that is about it.

They claim designed machined and assembled here in the states. For 300-400 depending on model it looks like a good option that will leave some money for ammo.

Is anyone running one? Should I just spend more for aimpoint or eotech?

IIRC battery life was abysmal compared to just about any competitive reflex sight out there. Nowhere near the standard set by Aimpoint and Holosun.
