Just finished a project build for a lighter weight hunting rifle that should be able to reach out there if called on to do so.

specs:

Trued Remington R/H Action and Sleeved bolt
Chambered in .260 Match
Fluted SS Kreiger Barrel, 5.5 contour, 1-8 twist, finished at 20"
Manners MCS-T in GAP Camo with adjustable LOP, bedded using Devcon
Pinned Holland recoil lug
Rifle Basix L-1 set at 1.5 lbs
Cerakoted in Armorer black
R @ D Preicison Bolt Knob Modification
Finished weight Aprox 8.25 pounds

The bolt raceway is bored to .705 and I cut the sleeves on the bolt to .7025 to allow .0025 total clearance becouse she will be in the field. A little looser than what I normally cut them but man do they run slick.

I'll be getting her out to the range tomm for a test run, taking the Chrony as well, I am really curiouse to see what kind of speed she will run at.

Side note - Thanks Tom Manners, talk about a great team and customer service. Had a little issue with the inlet, they emailed me a return shipping label that day and had it back in less then 10. Thanks guys.

Re: Light Weight .260 project build complete.

My truck gun dream come true! I will never understand why anyone would want to build or carry anything much heavier in a gun you will actually carry in the field.

Re: Light Weight .260 project build complete.

You sir are in possession of my next stock for sure, and possibly my next whole rig. Depending on the speeds you see, I may very well switch my shorty .308 scheme to .260. I've got a 24" .260 and absolutely love it. Im in a good node with 142SMKs at around 2820 fps. I can't imagine your shorty .260 pushing anything less than 2680-2720 and shooting real straight. I will definately be watching for range results.

And if I haven't said it...really nice rifle. I love everything about it especially the paint. Todd (30calsniper) do that one?

Range trip went really well today. All shots were 100 yards using a bi-pod.

140 A-max's at 100 yards 3 shot groups.

2nd group (pulled last shot) still under .75

3RD group

123 A-max at 100 yards - Didn't like as much as the 140's

5 shot group around .580 center to center

Speeds were pretty good. I shoot these loads out of my other .260's. They are usually a good indicater on how the rifle is going to run and show its potential.

The 140 A-max was 42.6 grains of H4350 and were averaged at 2673FPS. This load shoots 2790 in my 24" .260

The 123 A-max was 45.1 H4350 and were running about 2918 but SD was not so good.

Jamie

Looks like it will be a shooter. These are standard loads for other rifles. With a little load tuning for the shorter barrel harmonics this rifle will shoot superb. Like the numbers also, I'm encouraged to go shorter when I rebarrel.

What were the speeds you were getting?
