Lightest contour 16” barrel with 5/8 threads ?

I believe a Bartlein 3b would be the smallest profile that has enough meat for 5/8x24. Or you could go with a Carbon barrel.
I’m still bouncing ideas around. Was going to go carbon but like someone said you don’t save very much weight with a barrel that short?

um. is this a pre-fit or a custom spin up for your UL 223 build?

and ask the person who is doing the barrel. Most of them can tell you that off the top of their head.

I love your threads on this, but we need pics. Fapping and all ya see
Still trying to make up my mind. Still preliminary at this point.

@RickyRodney says I need to stop being a pussy and just use this 18” 223. Save $3000+, But. Weight. And either no or clunky nv capability. And rifle ADHD

For suppressor alignment I like .100 shoulder, or .200 over thread major.
Every smith is going to have their own "comfort zone" with this (and for me depends somewhat on the device as well) just like min barrel wall thickness.

If you want to use a skinny barrel, try to source a mount that indexes off the muzzle instead of the barrel shoulder.

Custom sporter contour with a fat muzzle or a factory one like so:

You can use a jam-nut on any muzzle that is .620" OD. Someone will probably say that's a bad idea but it's the same thing on the breech end for Savage, "remage" and other nutted barrel systems. Thread locker and witness marks will be your friend.

This....
I’ve got several 18” Bartlien 2Bs ( Rem Mag Sporter) with 5/8s threads. They all are 6.5 bores and smaller and I’ve had zero issues.

Add: .725 behind the CB brakes with a 1” shank.

The bartlein sporter contours taper in front of the neck at .010 to 12 thousandths per inch. A 3b tapers at .010/inch, so it will have a .8” muzzle at 16”. A #3 tapers at .010/inch, so .770” at 16”. A 2B tapers at .012/inch, so .727 at 16”. And finally a 2b tapers at .011/inch, so .688” at 16”.
