I was thinking about getting a limbsaver slip on pad for my Remmy 5R. What ever that thing is that came stock with it won't work. It's less than or right at 1/4" thick and hark as a rock. If I get a slip on limbsaver, do I need to shave off the existing pad or leave it and slip the limbsaver over it? If I just slip it on over it do I need to glue it to the existing pad? Thanks for the help

Re: Limbsaver Pad

I'd leave it in place. It's not thick enough to matter.

Yes, the 5R's kick. Not sure why they do not come with a good recoil pad attached to the HS Precision stock. I purchased one of the PAST slip on pads for my shoulder. Might look stupid, but I don't get bruises any more!

Re: Limbsaver Pad

I always thought of slip-ons for milsurps, etc. where you don't want to change the original configuration of the rifle.

All of my (non-collectible) rifles have Limbsaver grind-to-fit pads permanently installed. Why not put one on for keeps?
