Re: Little help please!
Shay, for tieing that type sheath to MOLLE or ALICE webbing, I'd just use 550 cord or parachute cord. Use a simple square knot on one side of the sheath after running the cord through the webbing and sheath in at least two places each. It should hold just fine.
Tom, I've also got a small collection of Ka-bars, and for what it's worth, I'm also against change for the sake of change. But the rubber handle on the newer versions does seem to offer slightly better dry grip than the older leather versions. I would assume that this would also infer a better grip in wet conditions, but I have not performed any testing to verify this assumption. The newer style sheath is something that I find interesting -- the kydex is designed to provide positive retention of the knife when placed in the sheath, with or without the retention strap being closed. The older leather sheath only offered retention of the blade with the retention strap in the closed position.
