I am starting to load some 243 with 95gr Nosler BT’s using BLC-2 powder. I know this isn’t the best powder to use but what is everyone else running for charges? So far I have tried a few and I am getting 2555 FPS with 32gr and 2753FPS with 35gr. So far no signs of pressure but this seems a little on the slow side. What is everyone’s thoughts?

What twist is your barrel.
H4350 H4831ssc IMR4350 is what is use but I am shooting 107SMK.
With your bullet weight maybe RL15 ARcomp, varget, IMR4064. Have you checked nosler's manual.

Use a slower burning powder.....you keep f ing round with blc2 in a 243 your results may end up being very unpleasant.

I have a 7 twist brux. My goal is to find the heaviest bullet that I can push 3000 plus FPS. I have looked in every loading manual I can think of and only one showed BLC2 with a max charge or 39gr. I have not seen arcomp listed but In my previous experience that is a great powder for high speed and I would love to try it if I knew where to start.

The hodgdon web sight list Varget and 4064 for the 95, but not BLC2. It lists the max charge for them and a velocity right at 3k. BLC-2 is a illite slower burning powder than those tow so hypothetically you should be able to get a little more velocity, those being on the fast side for the cartridge.

If you have a 7 twist you should be shooting 105's and up. I shoot 107smk in a 8 twist with 40.5gr of H4350 at 3k.

You need to change powder. With a little testing 3000 is easily attainable with a 90 or 95 grain bullet. I'm loading 243 Win 95 grain SMKs with Varget and IMR 4895 - have had great results through my LR243. Velocities in the 2900-3000 range. Currently working up a load for my Savage 243 bolt gun (Model 112, F series, 26" barrel) using longer 95 grain TMKs and 90 grain TGK bullets and slower burning Superformance powder.

H4350 is a tired and true powder for the 243. If you can’t find it, look for rl16. It is very very similar. In fact it works better in my 6.5 cm than 4350 did, so I’ve switched. Still running 4350 in my 243. Can’t go wrong with 4350 and the 243.

Ive had very good results with IMR-4350, IMR-7828, with the 95 Gr Nosler BT and Sierra 100 Gr BTSP’s with Federal brass, and large rifle primers.
