I am loading H1000 and hor. 285 g , My speeds are slower then I have seen published.
My start and finish with speeds,84 g,2419 fps-86,2448-87,2487-88,2520-89,2559-90,2569-91,2619. these are seated at 3.585 ,this is a factory rem. xcr
hornady book shows a max of 93.9 with a speed of 2750 for 300 smk. for h1000
I was looking for 2750 +- out of the hor 285.
Can someone run this on a program, what is max safe load for this and why the slow speed?
Would an overcast sky show slower speeds?
Thanks for the help in advance!

I don't know about any of the above.

Sierra's V manual:

"338RUM, Savage M-116, 26", 1:10" twist, Rem 9 1/2s, RP case, H-1000 and the 300 SMK:

Start: 80.6grs @ 2400 fps

Next: 84.4grs @ 2500 fps

Next: 88.2grs @ 2600 fps

Next: 92.0grs @ 2700 fps

Max: 93.9grs @ 2750 fps"

You can go up to 99grs with the 250 SMKs, so that gives you an idea of where the 285s might lie. Why your speeds are slower in your weapon, than published info, well...that's just the way things are sometimes.
