I used the search and couldn't find anything. What are ya'lls favorite loads for .25-06rem. I am shooting a remington sendero 26" barrel. I like running the 115gr noslerblst, and 117gr sierra partitions. I just tried some sierra 120gr hpbt. Looking for some good volocities. I have been running imr4350 and remington or winchester primers.

Re: loads for .25-06?

I use Nosler Accubond 110 gr. Seated right at max Coal. 49.0 gr of IMR 4350 (work up to this load) Shoots .36" CTC out of my 26" Rem 700 BDL, all Factory at 100 yds.

I have also used Sierra HPBT 120 gr, using 47.0 grs of IMR with good results. Always work up, best of luck. This load shoots about .6-.75" at 100 yds.

Jester

Edit to add: I use WIN brass and WLR primers.

Re: loads for .25-06?

I just scanned the Reloading Depot. It seems there isn't a log for this caliber. If there are several replys made I'll move it to the depot area.

My personaly favorite for crows and groundhogs is:

Remington brass
Either Winchester or Federal Large Rifle primers
90 grain Sierra HPBT bullets
and aprox. 47 grains of IMR 4064
muzzle velocity of over 3200 fps

My #2 load for the same bullet is aprox. 47 grains of IMR 4320. I used this powder when I ran out of 4064.

An old load for deer is:

Remington brass
Either Federal or Winchester Large Rifle primers
117 Nosler Partitions
and aprox. 53 grains of Winchester 785
muzzle velocity of near 3000 fps

That load has been outdated due to the availability of certain components. I have replaced it with the following:

Remington brass
Winchester primers
120 grain Nosler Partition bullets
IMR 4350

Re: loads for .25-06?

I have been getting great results with believe or not.....Reloder 25 and Sierra's 120 gr HPBT, shoots in the .3's

Cooper M22
Winchester Brass
Sierra 120 BTHP
57.5gr R-25
215M
OAL 3.200"

Averages 3110fps out of my 24" bbl

*NOTE*
Alliant's max load is 58.0 grs with R25. I went to using the 215M's due to me running low on the 210M's. I did reduce my loads and worked back up and found out that I gained appx 25fps using the magnum primer over the standard.
I am really impressed with using this slow powder in the 25-06 as it's velocity is a bit more than I was able to achieve with my favorite, R-22. I would be interested in others trying something like this and see what results they get.

These are only 3 shot groups, I really cant explain the far upper right group.

Re: loads for .25-06?

I have three 25-06's. They all shoot better with 100gr. bullets than the heavier ones. I have had very good luck with the 100gr. NBT's on deer. I have killed quite a few with that bullet, including one that weighed 193 pounds. No problem with the bullet holding up and I usually get exits.

Re: loads for .25-06?

58.3gr Hogdgon Hybrid 100-V and an 85gr Noslet BT holds about 1 MOA from my 24" bbl Browning A-bolt. Velocity is well over 3400 fps. Hybrid V has yielded the highest velocities so far from all the powders I've tried: H4831, RL19, Varget, IMR4831 and at least a couple others I can't seem to remember right now (data is down in the basement and I'm too tired to go look :)0

Re: loads for .25-06?

I'm looking for some loads using h4895 or varget, it is a savage 112 with a 26 inch 1 in 10 twist. havn't shot it yet so I don't know what weight of bullet. what works for you with a 1 in 10?

Re: loads for .25-06?

I shoot 55 grains of H4831sc under 100 gr Tipped TSX barnes bullet in Winchester brass and primmer. 4X4 in 25-06 Nikon bdc scope

It will knock a deer off it's feet...

Out of eight deer only one took about three steps rest all dropped in their tracks.

Bullet seated .05 off the lasnds

Re: loads for .25-06?

Ive had 4 different 25/06s over the years and overall performance has always been best with Norma MRP. It gives me the highest velocity and lowest SDs.

The 25/06 is a really great cartridge. Try the 115 Breger VLD. Highest BC for .25 cal. and very accurate. Performs very well on deer and antelope.

Good luck!!

Re: loads for .25-06?

I used to load 56 grains of H4831 with 100grn Nosler BT. I have looked at newer manuals and that load is over listed max now. Winchester brass and Winchester primers.

Re: loads for .25-06?

My pet load out of my Sendero is:

115 Berger
52.5 gr Re22
Win Brass
WLR Primer

It avg's in the .2's and will do better when im on top of things the biggest part of it was switching to WLR primers
it made a DIFFERENCE!

Re: loads for .25-06?

2 loads. that my old 1970's remmy 700 loves

small game

85gr balistic silver tip nosler/winchester
52 gr IMR 4350
whatever brass I pull out of the bag and WLR primer
3.2" oal

my deer load for this year.....

100gr nosler balistic tip
51gr IMR 4350
diddo on brass and primer
3.2" oal

This is a old wood stock, hard creeping trigger, state of the art 1970. but It does have a heavy bull barrel and will shoot good groups like el gordo's at 100yds.

both loads are pretty hot don't know the velocity, would like to especially the 85 grainers

anyone have any luck with the hornady 117gr sst as I was looking at these for a deer load but haven't tried them yet

Re: loads for .25-06?

This is something I had hoped would be covered. I have a Howa 25-06 on the way and am looking for good starting points for loads. This rifle has a 22" barrel though.

Re: loads for .25-06?

I'm looking at a couple different bullets; Nosler 115g and 85g BT, and Barnes 100g TSX. I'm thinking 85g for varmints and 115 for deer. I'm definitely open to suggestions though.

Re: loads for .25-06?

I don't have access to my reloading log right now but I used the exact data off of the Nosler website for the 110 gr. Accubonds. I believe its about 54 gr. of MagPro using Win cases and primers. Out of my Ruger M77 I shot a couple of three shot groups that were a hair under 1" @ 100 yards each with a called flyer. They would have both been <1/4" if I hadn't gotten nervous and pulled the last shot in each group.

Re: loads for .25-06?

Anyone out there still shooting 25-06? I recently got one and want to start working on loads.

My go to deer gun when the wife isn't carrying it is the Browning Stainless Stalker in 25/06

Used 53.5 gr H4831SC behind 110gr Nosler BT for a while then went to 55.8 gr. H4831SC pushing a 115gr Berger VLD, Primarily Remington brass with Fed Match primers seated to just shy of the lands. Consistently shoots 1" at 200yds, couldn't tell ya the last time it was shot at 100..

I load the 25-06 for my dad with 110gr Nosler Accubonds being pushed by IMR 4831. The load is fairly light running right at 3000fps but it produces sub .5 moa groups so I just stopped there.

I load 25-06 with 110 accubonds and 54.5 grains of H 4831sc. Great deer combo, and very accurate. 1/2" at 100 is normal.

I just got my new .25 from the smith about 2 months ago. Took a while to get her going as I didn't have any brass, (still don't have enough). Anyway, using Win. brass, CCI primers and IMR 4350. Ended up at 53.0 grains pushing a Sierra 90 gr blitz king. It shot about 1/2 ". A couple of nights ago I loaded some more 90's with 53.5 grs. of the same powder. WOW! One big ragged hole! That's what I'll be staying with this winter.

Glad to see some info for the 25-06 i just picked up a sendero chambered in 25 and i plan on shooting the berger 115 and 85gr nosler bt. as soon as i get my brass in i will get up to the range and post some of my results.

Thanks guys!

remington 700 sendero 26" berger 115 seated .020" off the lands win case cci 200 primer 50 gr re22 shoots in the .3s 3050FPS

Good to hear! I also have a 26" Sendero, Im using 85gn nosler BT. Been using 58.2gn of H4831, getting 3500fps with groups under a inch. I just need to get it out and shoot it more! I have played with 115gn BT's and some Burgers 115gn vlds but havnt had time to get them dialed in.

25-06 Loads

Just finished some today for my Ruger NO.1 heavy barrel.... Win brass, Fed 210 Match primer, Nosler 100g Ballistic tip, 62 grains of Reloader 22, .005 off of lands. No pressure signs.*****compressed load. HOT HOT Load.

Savage 110, 24" barrel. Getting big jagged hole with H4831SC. 117 gr SSt's. I'm gonna tweak this and RL22.

I bet that is hot! If I remember right im about .002" off my lands. This is the 2nd sendero I have owned, both the old style, 26" bull with mate black barrel and HS stock. Both shot great with same load, only thing different is the head space. I have shot this one out to 1000yrds with the 85gn BTs for fun, but it will do it.

Yes it is a hot load, but a Ruger no.1 and most Bolt guns can take just about anything out there. I believe the Max load in the Sierra manual is around 56 or 57 grains of R-22. A case that has more air space is more dangerous than one that is full, besides a 223/5.56 is running in the low 60,000 psi and a hot 25-06 isn't even close to that but like I said there weren't any pressure signs to worry about. I also built me a 25-06 AI on a Winchester M70 push feed, Schneider 1-12 5p barrel, McMillan Stock W/Burris Scope. Another nasty cartridge and a lot of trouble fire forming and working brass etc. etc. so I am going to re chamber it to 257 Weatherby.
That 85 grainer is a nasty bullet. I built me a 257 Weatherby on a Remington 700 action, Schneider 1-12 twist 5p 28" barrel, McMillan stock and mark 4 Leupold scope and the ground hogs in Caroline County Virginia hated that rifle. The 85 gr Nosler Ballistic tip would make a mess out of a ground hog. I also used it in Africa on a plains game hunt with the Barnes XLC 100grain bullets. I like anything 25 caliber.

Yea the model 1 is a tank, never delt with the 257 Weatherby. Back in the 90's when ground hogs where eveywhere here I shot my share with the 25-06. My dad asked me one day while hunting why I carried that heavy thing around, I shot a ground hog a few minutes later with it. It picked it up and slung in about 5 yards and turned it inside out. I told him thats why. The 85gn BT going that fast is devistating! I swaped the HS stock out for a Bell & Carson, I like the vertical grip and higher comb much better.
