I just bought a SPS tactical. It has a 20inch barrel with a 1/12 twist. Now I have heard that this twist doesn't like the 175SMK. All I really plan to do with this rifle is practice my shooting. A good friend recommended that I shoot the 155 scenars and the 155 amaxes out of it. Will I still be able to reach a grand with these? Anyone have any pet loads out there that use these? Any info is appreciated.

It will do fine with 175s.
my 20" 1/12 handles everything from 110s, up to 210s. Haven't tried anything heavier.
The 168s are notorious for going unstable out at 1000 yards in 1/12 308s.

This Man ^^^^^^^ Speaks True. My SPS loves the 175 SMK and Nosler HPBT as well as 178 AMAX. 44.5 gr Varget under the 168 SMK or 45 Varg. under the 175 works very well indeed in all of my .308s.

I use 42.3 gr of imr 4064 with sierra 175's @ .010 off lands and still fitting the mag. with my rifle Im getting 2550 fps
lapua cases and fed 210m primers

must be nice, the lands on my sps varmint are at 2.97, i cant even come close to fitting the mag with that jump. like someone else said here in another post "im thinking of calling my rifle linda lovelace"
