Long action 308 load

I finally went w/ a 308 long action build. SAC is has it now. They are going to throat it for 208 AMAX. It will be fed from a modified 300 win mag magazine.
? Since I theoretically have room for more powder with the long COAL. What loads do you suggest?

With .250 of Freebore, I loaded 44 gr of Varget at a velocity of 2630 from a 32" F-TR barrel. The COAL was 3.2" if I remember correctly

I have seated 175 SMK and 155 Scenars bullets out at 3.000 OAL. Much longer and the case neck will not properly hold them.

Here is my stupid question. Why not just make it a .30-06? Or .300 RUM?

I'm shooting 49.0 gr RL-17 under a moly'd 208 AMax, at a COL of 3.08". That's good for 2620 fps from a 22" Rem varmint barrel.

Not a stupid ?!! I really do not have a good answer for that. I think I went w/ 308 because there is so much data out there for it.

I'm single loading them in a short action 700.

I did put in a Wyatts mag box, with a 2.99" internal length. I can load two in there, with the tips on the feed ramp.

Don't mess with the light bullets.

I did the same thing on a defiance deviant. I had it throated for a 208 at 3.1" oal with .015 jump

I loaded 48 grains of reloader 17 with no pressure signs in Winchester brass. I was at 2630 fps with a 22" barrel. It was a good 100fps faster than my other rifle with 47 grain charge and shorter throat. No pressure at all. Thing is a hammer.

It also shoots everything else under the sun well even at 2.8

What magazine are you using? I have ordered a Accurate mag 30-06. Have not got it yet to try

I used an alpha mag for the 300 win and bent the feed lips. It did not take a whole lot of messing to get it right. It holds....I think 7 rounds.
